A nice lunch sees me ready for the Red nine and as I tee up my ball I see a lot of broken tees so I check my yardage planner and duly put the driver away and take out my 2-iron as there is a ditch 257-yards out running across the fairway.
There was a match behind me so I let them through but I had a chance to chat to them on the 3rd tee and they told me that the Red was their favourite nine-hole loop. The first two holes are all about placement as there’s also a ditch running across the 2nd fairway, but I’ve hit two good approach shots and have started birdie, birdie that ham, egg and chips seems to have worked wonders! My favourite holes on this nine are the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th 7th and the 9th hole.

The 6th is a wonderful driving hole with two fairway bunkers that can be deceiving from the tee but shouldn’t present to many problems. The 7th is another par 3 played from an elevated tee which is protected by two bunkers at the front and one long and the green tilts from back to front so par here is a good score. The 9th is another great finishing hole at 437-yards to a green that has 3 bunkers protecting the left side and a large bunker protecting the right with a green that slopes this time from front to back with OOB if you go through the green.
