Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The European Tour now moves from Denmark to the UK and to the venue that basically changed the history of the modern-day Ryder Cup matches. The Brabazon course has hosted four Ryder Cups and Europe has won two, halved one and lost one and is a firm favourite for European spectators, but it was the 1985 matches here when Europe finally turned the tide of American domination in the biannual event.
The Brabazon opened for play in 1977 with a match between Seve Ballesteros and Johnny Miller against Tony Jacklin and Brian Barnes and how poetic that it was Seve and Jacklin who played that opening match as they would go on to become entwined in the Belfry’s history.
The course was designed by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas who were given an unremarkable piece of farmland, which required significant sculpting to turn it into a golf course and it’s also its downfall as when it rains it can turn back into a bit of farmland becoming very muddy and boggy in places. In the late 90s Dave Thomas was commissioned to give the course a £2.7m makeover to try and help solve some of those problems and it has helped, but unfortunately not totally solved them. There is now more water on The Brabazon than just about any other inland course in the UK.
The memorable holes are of course the 10th and 18th holes, the 10th being a risk and reward par 4 with the green being protected by water and who can forget Seve driving that green and of course Christy O’Connors 2-iron into the heart of the triple-tiered 18th green to win the 1985 Ryder Cup matches.

My tips to Win:
I am going to stick with a couple of players this week and one of them is Rasmus Højgaard 18/1 – with AKBets – who had a runner-up finish at the Danish Golf Championship. It was a nervy final round for Rasmus who currently sits in eighth-place on the Ryder Cup rankings, but a win here should secure his spot on the team
I don’t normally go for back-to-back winners, especially on the European tour, but with his win at the Danish Golf Championship Marco Penge 22/1 – with AKBets – stormed up the Ryder Cup rankings six spots and is not just banging on Captain Donalds door, but kicking it down. He knows another win this week and it will be hard to ignore his claims to be on the team
Defending champion Niklas Nørgaard Møller 28/1 – with Bet365 – doesn’t have a case to be included on the Ryder Cup team and while all those around him are jockeying for Ryder Cup positions, Niklas could go under the radar and steal the show
Each-way tips
Looking for his second win of the year is Haotong Li 35/1 – with AKBets – who has taken a few weeks off after his Top 5 finish at The Open Championship. Haotong apart from his win has a runner up and four other Top 10 finishes, three of which are Top 5s
Another player that will come in this week slightly under the radar is Laurie Canter 35/1 – with AKBets – who hasn’t quite captured that explosion of form he had from January to March when he had a win, runner-up and third-place finishes from four starts. Since then there have four missed cuts from his next seven starts, but I feel he could do well here this week
Coming into this week on the back of three Top 25 finishes from his last three starts including a seventh-place finish at a very tough Nexo Championship is local lad Andy Sullivan 45/1 – with AKBets – Andy has a couple of Top 15 finishes here since the tournament made the Belfry its permanent home
