Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The European Tour now moves back to mainland Europe and Belgium for the Soudal Open. This event has moved from its early incarnation of a knockout tournament – and to be honest I really liked that format – then to a combined stroke play/knockout event and is now back to being a straight 72-hole stroke play tournament.
This week’s venue is the Rinkven International Golf Club which sits on the outskirts of Antwerp and opened for play in 1981. The original course was designed by Belgian golfer and course architect Paul Rolin, but a masterplan for the venue was put in place by Russell Talley of Hawtree Ltd in 2014 and the first phase of those works finished in 2016.
There are two courses here a mixture of woodland and parkland with water coming in play on several holes and there are a variety of teeing options on both courses so you can pick according to your playing ability. The North Course measures 6,697-yards, par 72, while the South Course measures 6,546-yards, par 71. This week’s course will be a composite of the two courses to add length and to test the ability of some of the best players on the European Tour.

My tips to Win:
A runner-up in this event two years ago should see Yannik Paul 22/1 – with Bet365 – looking forward to being back here this week. Yannik started the season well with two Top 10s in his first three starts and then went off the boil, but has had two Top 11 finishes in his last three starts, and being back here where he will have some positive vibes I expect him to be challenging come Sunday
Now on the Liv Tour Thomas Pieters 22/1 – with Bet365 – got the year off badly but with three Top 15 in his last three starts on that tour. Being allowed to play in his home Open on the European Tour, I expect him to want to put in a performance this week and also collect some much-needed world ranking points.
With three Top 15 finishes from his four starts here including a victory in the Belgian Knockout, I think it is safe to say that Adrian Otaegui 28/1 – with LiveScoreBet – enjoys teeing it up at the Rinkven International GC – his other finish was a twenty-sixth place finish when he defended his title in the Belgian Knockout. Adrian recently won the Volvo China Open and although he missed the cut at the PGA Championship at least that has given him more time to acclimatise back to European time.
Each-way tips:
Three Top 15 finishes in his last four starts and it feels like Joost Luiten 50/1 – with BetVictor – is starting to edge back to becoming the golfer we all know he is. Joost has played on this course three times and he has had one withdrawal, a missed cut and played two rounds in the Belgian Knockout, but I feel the stroke play format will suit him better this week
It seems to have been a stop start season for Guido Migliozzi 55/1 – with BetFred – but he is coming back to a venue where he has won before when it was the Belgian Knockout, on the back of his runner-up finish at the Volvo China Open
Outside tip:
It is not often that you see the defending champion of an event this far down the betting odds, but this is where you will find this week’s defending champion Simon Forsström 125/1 – with LiveScoreBet – It has not been a great year for Simon, but he did have a Top 25 in his last start and he is the defending champion and I feel he’s defiantly worth a one pound each-way punt
