Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.

This year’s Australian Open Championship moves back to The Lakes and The Australian Golf Clubs. The Lakes GC was established in 1928. Architects Eric Apperly and Tom Howard were commissioned to design two golf courses, one public and one private course in the sandhills fronting Gardeners Road in Kingsford, Sydney.
The lake was part of the old Sydney water supply and the championship course was designed around the lake so it would become an integral part of the design. The public course had to open simultaneously as the Lakes Course and is known as Eastlake Links.
The course has had several redesigns since the original layout, in 1968, the Mascot motorway was built and closed the course. Von Hagge, Bruce Devlin’s partner, re-designed the layout. In 2007, Ogilvy Clayton design were commissioned to conduct a major redesign of the course and the club was then awarded with the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Australian Opens Championships and returns for the next two years.
The Lakes is regarded as a challenging course with wind playing a major factor along with 96 bunkers, sandy wastelands and if course those water hazards.
My tips to Win:
Going back-to-back wins is always tough but I feel that Min Woo Lee 5/1 – 888Sport – could do that his week. Winning does take a lot out of you mentally as well as physically, but winning by three shots and not really being pushed, I feel that Min Who could make it a magical two weeks back in his homeland come Sunday evening
A past champion of this event and winning on one of these courses is Cameron Davis 10/1 – UniBet – who will have a lot of positive vibes as he comes through the gates here this week. Throw in his Top 10 finish at the weekend and three Top 15 from three starts on the PGA Tours Fall Series and Cam comes into this week with his golf game in great shape
This week's defending champion is Adrian Meronk 20/1 – PaddyPower – who will have very fond memories of winning this title by five shots last year. Adrian has won twice on the European Tour this year and will want to put up a great defence of his title this week
Each-way tips:
I am sure two times Australian Open Champion Matt Jones 33/1 – 888Sport – will be looking forward to arriving at The Lakes and The Australian golf clubs. Matt won both of his titles over The Australian Golf Club and has had a runner-up finish in this event at The Lakes, so will feel right at home when he arrives here
I am going to stick with David Micheluzzi 40/1 – UniBet – again this week, who put in another Top 10 finish at last week’s Australian PGA Championship. David seems to get himself up for the big events and had a Top 5 finish over the Lakes Course when the Australian Open Championship was held here back in 2018, so will have a lot of positive memories to work with
Outside tip:
A Top 15 finish at the weekends Australian PGA Championship and a final round of 66 should see Calum Hill 80/1 – Bet365 – arrive here in buoyant mood. Calum finished last season in solid form but didn’t really challenge and probably not the season he expected. Hill will want to get this season off to a fast start and I expect him to be challenging again this week
