Another wonderful Masters and congratulations to Scottie Scheffler on a fantastic win. The PGA tour now moves to South Carolina and arguably the oldest golf course in the United States, South Carolina Golf Club, which was formed by Scottish merchants in 1786.

Today the resort now boosts three courses and this week’s RBC Heritage is played over the Harbour Town Golf Links. Opened for play in 1969 and designed by Pete Dye in consultation with Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town Golf Links is recognised as one of America's top courses and is repeatedly selected by the players on the PGA Tour as one of their favorite courses.

The course is a shot makers dream and those who can move the ball and have the imagination and finesse, rather than brute force will be rewarded on this track. The course measures 6,973 yards not the longest by today’s standards but when the wind blows off the Calibogue sound, this course will put the professionals who play here this week to a stern test.

My tips to Win:

I think we are about to learn how quickly Cameron Smith 16/1 – with SportNation – can put a disaster behind him, he seemed to compose himself and get back into it after a couple of holes on Sunday at The Masters, but no doubt he played that shot at the 12th at Augusta over and over again when he went to sleep. Cameron has had mixed results here from his six starts with only two Top 15 finishes one being his ninth-place finish last year when he opened with a 62. I feel he will want to prove a point this week and be right back in the heat of battle come Sunday.

Winning your first PGA title can be difficult especially when the majority of the courses are set up for the bombers and I feel this is the type of golf course where Matt Fitzpatrick 25/1 – with Bet365 – can pick up his first win stateside. Harbour Town is a shotmakers course, having said that Matt has missed a couple of cuts here, but he does also have four Top 25 finishes including his fourth-place finish last year and after a solid Top 15 finish at The Master I think he will be in the thick of it come Sunday afternoon.

Past champion of this event Webb Simpson 33/1 – with 10Bet – hasn’t really challenged at all this year and only has three Top 15 finishes on the whole wraparound season so far. But, this is a course that Webb knows well and apart from his win he has a runner-up and five other Top 15 finishes including a fifth-place finish and I expect him to be back challenging this week.


Each-way tips:

After missing the cut in his first two starts here Sung Jae Im 40/1 – with SportNation – managed a Top 15 finish last year, which if you add that with in with his scoring from the first two times he teed it up at Harbour Town he has improved every year. Sung Jae comes into this week on the back of a very good Masters where he made the Top 10 and I think he will be in confident mood this week.

Another past champion and runner-up in this event is Matt Kuchar 66/1 – with 10Bet – who also has six other Top 15 finishes including four Top 10s. Kuchar missed out on playing in The Masters which should be an added spur this week and he comes into this tournament on the back of a runner-up finish at the Valero Texas Open and he should be in buoyant mood coming into this week.

Outside tip:

This weeks defending champion is Stewart Cink 125/1 – with SportNation – who has won this tournament three times winning the first time he teed it up here and has three other Top 10s. Stewart may have missed the cut at The Masters but he did have that hole-in-one at the 16th on his sons – who is also his caddy – birthday and I am sure they will be looking forward to defending his title this week.
