As James, the director of Planet Golf Review was due to play golf at North Foreland Golf Club in Broadstairs we popped into the Botany Bay Hotel had drinks at the bar before having dinner at their restaurant (The Botany Bay Restaurant). And as we sit in one of the bay windows on such a beautiful crisp clear Kent afternoon we have a stunning view out to the channel and the Thanet wind farm, I know some people do not like them but to me they have their own elegance, I just see them showing us the power and majesty of two of the planet’s elements where sea and wind combine. James and I take in what is a magical collision – mother earth at its best.
For my starter I opted for the smoked salmon and king prawns with a garlic and herb cream cheese on toasted soda bread. Again for the second time in three days I could have had a second helping of the starter it was just that good. For wine we opted for Simon Hackett's 2013 'Rusty's Revenge' Sauvignon Blanc which complimented both the starter and main.
My main was grilled plaice fillet with a herb and garlic dusting which was so big it took up nearly the whole of my plate! It came with peas, mange tout, sautéed potatoes and tartare sauce. Dessert - my favourite end to a meal... this time I had to try one. No review would be complete without one. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
For dessert I chose citrus cheesecake posset, a tough decision but one I was very pleased with. It came with ice cream and 2 shortbread biscuits. Heaven on a plate!
