Ping release their G425 range that is custom fit, custom built and aimed at all skill levels. “The Tour response to the G425 driver has been exceptional, it started with a win its first week on the European Tour in the hands of Tyrrell Hatton at the BMW PGA Championship and has continued with wins around the world ever since. Viktor Hovland claimed the Mayakoba Golf Classic in early December with the G425 LST and one week later the U.S. Women’s Open Champion also relied on the new driver. In all, the G425 driver already has six wins to its name, helping earn titles on all the major tours around the world. The players are instantly attracted to the clean, premium look of the clubs and even more impressed with the performance.” Stated Solheim.
G425 MAX
The G425 driver range comprises of the Max, LST (Low Spin Technology) and SFT (Straight Flight Technology).
The G425 combines technologies from the G400 Max and G410 Plus range of drivers which has increased the clubs MOI by 14% in the 460cc head with the help of a 26-gram tungsten movable weight, this has been achieved by advancements in the driver’s dragonfly crown technology.
The weight can be positioned in one of three settings – neutral, draw or fade – over a smaller area than the G410 Plus/LST and helps influence forgiveness and shot shape, this also has enabled the center of gravity to be moved lower and deeper in the club head without sacrificing the driver’s performance.
G425 LST
The LST model (9º, 10.5º lofts) is designed with a pear-shaped head and measures 445cc this has helped to reduce spin rate by approximately 200 rpm compared to the G410 LST and 500-700 rpm versus the G425 Max. The smaller head size of the LST uses a 17-gram CG weight with three settings – Draw, Neutral or Fade.
G425 SFT
The most common golf shot is the slice and the 460cc SFT 10.5º loft driver is engineered with a draw bias to help bring those shots back on-line. The 23-gram tungsten weight is a fixed back weight and moves the CG closer to the heel to promote a right-to-left ball flight of approximately 25 yards compared to the G425 Max model and the lighter swingweight (D1) also helps influence the ball flight correction.
All three models utilise Pings turbulators for reduced aerodynamic drag and the proprietary T9S+ forged face to accelerate face flexing and working together these two technologies help to increase distance. Each model features a lightweight, 8-position hosel for loft (+/-1.5º) and lie (up to 3º flatter) adjustments.
