Karen CC is full of history and located next to Karen Blixen’s (Out of Africa author) house which is now a museum dedicated to the Danish author. The Karen Country Club was founded in 1937 and is known as Kenya’s prettiest golf courses and prides itself as being one of the oldest golf clubs in Kenya.
Large parts of the 18-hole course were built on the former coffee estate developed by the author and the shade trees from her coffee plantation still dominate parts of the golf course.
The Ngong hills are a backdrop to the course that has a rich variety of trees, indigenous forest and flouring shrubs and fauna, with the wetlands being a distinct environmental feature and are home to thousands of birds. The course measures 6,900 yards from the tips with a par of 71.
My tips to Win: Angel Ayora 12/1 – with PaddyPower – It has been a bit of a stop/start season for the Spaniard so far, but does have four Top 25 finishes from his seven starts, two of which have been Top 10s including his fifth-place finish at the Qatar Masters
Calum Hill 28/1 – with PaddyPower – comes into this event after back-to-back runner-up finishes and had a Top 10 finish the last time this event was played here
Jorge Campillo 40/1 – with WilliamHill – past champion of this event although on another course and has only been outside the Top 25 once this season from his five starts
