Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
A new venue and an new name appear on the PGA Tour this week, firstly the Truist Championship formally known as the Wells Fargo Championship. And with the PGA Championship being held at Quail Hollow the tour pitches up at the A.W. Tillinghast designed Flourtown golf course at The Philadelphia Cricket Club in 1922. The course has since been renamed Wissahickon, after the creek which borders the property.
In 2013 architect Keith Foster was commissioned to restored the Wissahickon course, stating “There were no real blue prints at all,” Foster said. “I think that was really the challenge, truthfully. It was Tillinghast’s home course and he laid out in theory a skeleton routing, with the belief back then to lay it out and as the golf course matured to go ahead and introduce features that he would want to put in over time. The problem, of course, was that none of the features were ever documented.
What I basically had was the routing that he had and then I had the green pads that he had placed, but in terms of tee positions, they were all out of kilter and none of the bunkers existed where they were placed or where he would have placed them.”

My tips to Win:
No surprise picking Rory McIlroy 5/1 – with UniBet – and I think where some players worry about winning the week before a Major Championship, Rory seems to relish it and I feel it gives him an extra confidence boost going into those major events
I had to think for a while over this selection Collin Morikawa 14/1 – with BetFred – is obviously a Major Champion and there is no question over his ball striking, its when he gets on the putting green that his confidence has left him. He has to break that bad streak at some point and feel he will be challenging this week
It’s taken a while for Justin Thomas 18/1 – with BetFred – but you could feel that win at the RBC Heritage was coming, the way he had been playing this year. I think he is one of those players that could now go on a run and the two time PGA Champion will be looking to go into next week on another high
Each-way tips:
Quietly going about his business this year is Corey Conners 33/1 – with 888Sport – who we have tipped a couple of times now. Habour Town Links may not have suited him, but before that he was on a run of six Top 25 finishes from six starts with four Top 10s including The Masters and The Players
Another player that has become more confident in himself and his golf game is Sepp Straka 40/1 – with BetFred – Obviously the Ryder Cup helped him to be able to play under that much intensity and pressure. Sepp has a win and has only been outside the Top 25 four times all year from his thirteen starts
Outside tips:
With a record of a win, a runner-up and a third place finish in his last three starts Andrew Novak 60/1 – with BetFred – at this price has to be worth and each-way punt this week
Longer odds:
I don’t normally do an longer odds tip for these events but Erik Van Rooyen 175/1 – with BetFred – at these odds after his runner-up finish is another player worth a little each-way punt on
