The European Tour now moves to Singapore and the Singapore Classic which was played on the Asian Tour back in 2012 and won by Australian Scott Hend, and resurrected two years ago with Porsche as its new sponsor.

The 310-acre site was originally government land administered by the Singapore Tourist Board. In the early 1990s, businessman Peter Kwee and several other investors stepped in to transform the property into the golfing facility that it is today.

Originally designed in 1993, the course underwent a redesign by Andy Dye in collaboration with Pete and Perry and opened for play in 2010. Billed as “Asia’s Toughest Test,” this stadium course features over two hundred and fifty bunkers, a number of “waste bunker canyons” and “generous greens which often feature three or more tiers”.

In 2017, a full reconfiguration, including the addition of two new holes and a re-routing of the renovated holes, was implemented to renew authenticity, soften angles, shape faster greens, enhance playability and modernise fairway and tee grasses.

Laguna National's Classic Course revels in its reputation as one of the most difficult and dramatic tests of golf in Asia. Known locally as 'The Beast', due to its formidable challenge, the Classic unfolds over hilly terrain. Undulating greens and five water features and weighs in at 7,471 yards.

My tips to Win:

Four Top 16 finishes in his last five starts should see Sam Bairstow 33/1 – with AKBets – also arrive in buoyant mood. Especially knowing he had a third-place finish here last year when he shot 68 in all four rounds

With a win already under his belt this year Hao Tong Li 35/1 – with StarSports – will come into this week with a lot of confidence. Hao Tong has teed it up six times this season and has only been outside the Top 25 twice

Two starts in this event and Matthew Jordan 45/1 – with AKBets – has one Top 20 finish the first season the tournament appeared back on the European Tour calendar. It has been a strange season for Matthew starting with his runner-up finish at the Nedbank Golf Challenge and then he lost his way a bit. But a Top 10 finish at the Qatar Masters shows he is starting to get back on track

Each-way tips:

A Top 15 finish here last year, firing a final round 66 should see Joost Luiten 55/1 – with AKBets – looking forward to teeing it up here again this week. It’s also been of an up and down season for Joost, but he has only missed one cut and it feels that he is one round away from really challenging and with this weeks field I think these are very good odds

I also feel these are great odds for Richard Mansell 60/1 – with UniBet – who has two Top 15 finishes from his two starts in this event, and finished sixth the first year he teed it up at the Classic firing a 65 along the way

Outside tip:

Most of you know I have been tipping Brandon Robinson Thompson 60/1 – with AKBets – regularly and I do feel he will win very soon on the European Tour

Longer odds:

Try Ockie Strydom 200/1 – with Bet365

On the reserve list:

Look out for Jacob Skov Olesen he is currently second on the reserve list and if he gets in I would definitely recommend having a little punt on him

As always good luck
