Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The juxtaposition of the lush fairways and the barren desert gave rise to the term 'The Desert Miracle' back in 1988, when Florida-based course designer Karl Litten was commissioned by his Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, when the first all grass championship course emerged from the arid desert sands.
The course came to prominence when it was awarded its first European Tour event back in 1989 when the Dubai Desert Classic was born. The Majlis, which translates to 'Meeting Place' in Arabic, measures 7,211 yards and flows around the original desert dunes.
The course features hundreds of indigenous species of flora and fauna which are complemented by the beautifully lush Bermuda grass fairways that wind their way around the seven fresh and salt-water lakes, bringing water into play on ten of the eighteen holes.

My tips to Win:
Going for a three-peat and his fifth win in this event is Rory McIlroy 4/1 – with Bet365 – yes his odds are obviously not great, but with a rest and wanting to get the season off to a winning start, he will be the man to beat this week
Walking away from the Team Trophy event last week in Abu Dhabi with 3.5 pts from a possible 4pts was Tyrrell Hatton 9/1 – with Bet365 – and showed that he has hit the ground running coming into this week
For someone who enjoys teeing it up in this part of the world, it is strange that Tommy Fleetwood 10/1 – with Bet365 – hasn’t won or had a runner-up finish in this event. Like some of my other picks this week Tommy played in the Team Cup last week and won every point available and I feel he will be right in the heat of the battle come Sunday
Each-way tips:
Someone who didn’t do so well in last week's Team Cup was Matt Wallace 45/1 – with BetVictor – who took a disappointing 1.5pts from 4pts. Like a lot of other players Matt has been desperate to make a Ryder Cup team, but I have a feeling he needs to make the team rather than rely on a captains pick. So with that in mind he really needs to get a few wins to his name starting here this week
Even though the Continental Europe team took a battering last week, a couple of the French lads performed very well, one of those was Romain Langasque 80/1 – with UniBet – who took 3pts from 4pts and will come into this week in buoyant mood
Outside tip:
Another play that will take a lot of confidence from his Team Cup performance is Paul Waring 110/1 – with SpreadEx – who took 3.5pts from 4pts. Paul came into that event after winning the Abu Dhabi Championship which had a very strong field, and I think these are great odds for the Scouser
