Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
This week sees the start of the FedEx Cup play-offs and first up is the FedEx St Jude Championship.
Ron Prichard designed TPC Southwind, which opened as a private members golf club in March 1988. Prichard enlisted the advice of PGA tour players Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller to turn 240 acres of countryside into this stunning track.
The natural lakes and streams are the foundation on which this course has been designed and there are two-grain silos and a windmill that stand as a reminder of the dairy farm that once frequented this site.
One of the course’s signature holes is the par 3 11th hole which is similar to the 17th at TPC Sawgrass where players take aim at an island green 165-yards away. The course record is 61, jointly held by Jay Delsing and Bob Estes.
My tips to Win:
As usual and like Tiger in his heyday, Scottie Scheffler 14/5 – with BetVictor – will be the man to beat this week. The newly crowned Champion Golfer Of The Year will be looking to make it his fifth win this year
With two Top 10 finishes in his last two starts Xander Schauffele 16/1 – with BetVictor – is trending in the right direction. Xander had a runner-up finish here last year and he will be looking to go one better this week
Each-way tips:
A runner-up here in the COVID year Harris English 40/1 – with BetFred – has been quietly going about his business this year. Harris has a win and runner-up finishes in both the Open and PGA Championships and will come into this week full of confidence
Another player that has had a runner-up finish in this event is Sepp Straka 40/1 – with BetFred – who only lost in a play-off to Will Zalatoris. Sepp is another player that has been quietly going about his business. Sepp has notched up two wins and four other Top 10s, two of which were Top 5s and I think he will be in the thick of it again this week
It would be a big ask over the next couple of events, but could Harry Hall 50/1 – with SpreadEx – push himself into the Ryder Cup reconning with win and a couple of Top 10 finishes over the next few week. Harry has only been outside the Top 25 once in his last nine starts and with a restricted field this week, I expect him to be challenging come Sunday
