Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The European Tour moves from mainland Europe and pitches up at the K Club in Ireland, host to those memorable Ryder Cup Matches in 2006 and of course Rory McIlroy winning his only Irish Open to date.
Designed by Arnold Palmer in 1991 and originally called the North Course – now known as the Palmer course – it weighs in at 7,350-yards, but don’t worry there are four teeing options for you to choose from.
It's very much a marmite course – you either love it or hate it – The River Liffey plays a big part in the design of this track and meanders through the course and becomes hazardous on a number of holes, including the 8th, where it runs down the left hand side of the fairway.
The 16th is a double dogleg par 5, measuring nearly 600 yards, hazards, include trees, water, bunkers and deep rough, with the green being protected on both sides by the River Liffey.
My tips to Win:
Having only won the Irish Open once Rory McIlroy 17/4 with SpreadEx will no doubt want to add to that number of wins and eventually join the illustrious list of champions which includes Seve Ballesteros, Bernard Langer, Sir Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie who have won the Irish Open three times
Having won this this event as an amateur golfer I am sure Shane Lowry 16/1 with BetVictor would love to at least win it one more time as a professional golfer.
One of the most inform players on the European Tour at the moment is Marco Penge 18/1 with BetVictor who comes into this week on the back of another Top 10 finish. Marco now has only been outside the Top 25 twice in his last nine starts and has a win, runner-up and two Top 10 finishes in that run
Each-way tips:
The first time the K Club hosted the Irish Open back in 2016 Thorbjψrn Olesen 35/1 with BetVictor had a Top 10 finish firing a final round 66 and I feel he will do well again this week. It has been a up and down season on the PGA Tour for Thorbjorn with his best finishes being three Top 15s, two of which were Top 10s, including his fifth-place finish at the Texas Open
Hao Tong Li 45/1 with VirginBet added another Top 25 finish at the weekend, which now take his tally to twelve so far this year from nineteen starts. In that run Hao Tong has a win, a runner-up and five Top 10 finishes, three of which have been fourth-place finishes including one at The Open Championship
Outside tip:
To be honest I was surprised to see Richard Mansell 80/1 with Bet365 this far down the betting odds and I am not sure how long these odds will last, especially as he comes into this week on the back of a sixth-place finish at the Omega European Masters and also winning his first European Tour event back in March
