Firstly congratulations to Scottie Scheffler on becoming an Olympic champion. The tour now moves to Greensboro, North Carolina and the last event of the scheduled regular tour events before starting the Tour Championship play-off tournaments.
I am sure we will be in for some exciting golf again this weekend, especially for the guys on the bubble trying to make the FedEx Cup play-offs and Sedgefield CC couldn’t be a better course to be playing this event on.
Donald Ross originally designed Sedgefield Country Club back in 1926 the track was redesigned by Kris Spence in 2007, the restoration project took 10 months to complete at a cost of $3 million which transformed the course back to how Donald Ross envisaged the course to play.
Now measuring 7,130-yards and a par 70, the course doesn’t play that long from the tees but emphasis is on strategy and being in the right section of these rolling fairways. The small greens are very undulating and slope from back to front, with many falling off the edges into collection areas. The layout has a reputation for low scoring, which should make for an exciting tournament this week

My tips to Win:
A couple of weeks rest after his runner-up finish in The Open Championship and Billy Horschel 25/1 – with BetVictor – should be looking forward to teeing it back up in Greensboro. Billy does have a runner-up finish in this event and four other Top 15s, two of which were Top 5s and I expect him to be challenging again this week
A win, a runner-up and two Top 5 finishes from six starts, I think it’s fair to say that Si Woo Kim 28/1 – with UniBet – loves teeing it up at Sedgefield CC
Sitting in fifty-third place on the FedEx Cup rankings is Aaron Rai 40/1 – with BetVictor – and while I feel he is relatively safe he will want to put his Open Championship disappointment behind him. Arron went into The Open having not been outside the Top 20 in his previous five starts and the last three of those starts where all Top 10 finishes including a runner-up and a Top 5 at the Scottish Open and he will be looking to get back challenging again this week
Each-way tips:
If Nicolai Højgaard 50/1 – with Bet365 – wants to make the Top 70 and the FedEx Play-offs he will need to take his form from his last two rounds of the Olympic Tournament with him to North Carolina. Currently sitting in eightieth-place he will need to be right in the thick of the battle come Sunday if he is to have any chance of making the play-offs
The same goes for Frenchman Victor Perez 75/1 – with Bet365 – who rode a wave of partisan emotion in Paris to post a final round 63 that just see him miss out on an Olympic medal by one shot. He will need to bottle that energy and emotion up and reproduce that form this side of the Atlantic come the weekend
Outside tip:
Coming into this week full of confidence will be Patrick Fishburn 110/1 – with Bet365 – who has four Top 25 finishes from his last five starts and two Top 6s in his last two starts. Patrick didn’t start the season well with seven missed cuts from his first eight starts, but, he is ending it strongly. He will need to be right in the hunt for the title if he is to make it to Memphis
