Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The European Tour stays east and moves from Japan to China for this week's reinstated Volvo China Open, which has been missing from the European tour schedule since 2019 and the outbreak of COVID in 2020. This will be the third time the tournament is being played over the Genzon Golf Club, originally known as the CITIC Green Golf Club and designed by Leung Kwok Kun.
Opened in 1994 and situated a few miles outside of Shenzhen, the CITIC Green Golf Club used to be part of a botanical garden. The course went through a major re-design that was undertaken by Canadian Neil Haworth and winds its way through a forest and makes good use of Dragon Lake.
Now a 36-hole club, with courses named imaginatively as Course A & B! The manicured greens, perfect bunkers, limited membership and 5 star hotel add to the clubs ambition of being one of the most exclusive golf clubs in China, which is a shame for the millions of people in the Shenzhen area who would love to play the game.

My tips to Win:
This event hasn’t been played since 2019, but one player who played in that last event before the COVID outbreak was Jordan Smith 18/1 – with BetVictor – who had a Top 5 finish firing all four rounds in the 60s. It hasn’t been a good year for Jordan and when he gets himself into position he seems to have had a problem getting the win over the line over the last couple of years. Having said that I expect him to be challenging, but maybe think about cashing out come the final round
Having only been outside the Top 25 three times this year from his ten starts Tom McKibbin 22/1 – with UniBet – comes into this week on the back of another Top 10 finish, his third in his last five starts and I expect him to be in the thick of it again come Sunday
With only eight starts so far this year on the European Tour Antonie Rozner 30/1 – with SkyBet – comes into this week with five Top 25 finishes. Antonie was playing Challenge Tour golf the last time this event was being played, but I expect him to do well this week.
Each-way tips:
Having played in this event seven times with five Top 25 finishes – although none of them on this course – I am sure Joost Luiten 40/1 – with BetVictor – will be looking forward to teeing it up once again in China this week. Joost made the cut at the weekend but didn’t really challenge, but he did have two Top 15 finish in his two previous starts
Not exactly sure what happened to Connor Syme 45/1 – with UniBet – during the second round of the ISPS Handa Champiopnship after opening with a round of 66. But Connor came into that event on the back of three Top 10 finishes, it was certainly out of sync with how he had been playing recently. I am sure he will work on whatever the problem was and I expect him to be back challenging this week
Outside tip:
I was surprised to see Ashun Wu 75/1 – with BetVictor – this far down the betting odds, apart from this being his home open and wanting to do well in front of the partisan crowd, Ashun had a Top 5 finish on this course the last time the tournament was played and he is also a past champion
