Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
It’s the final event of the Fall Series and the PGA Tour now moves to the famed Harry Colt and Charles Alison designed Seaside Course at the Sea Island resort. Tom Fazio updated the course back in 1999 and not long after it entered Golf Digest’s list of Top 100 Courses.
Tour golf is not the only claim to fame of the Sea Island resort, the G8 held one of its summits here back in 2004. Sea Island’s story is a fascinating look at America’s past. Howard Coffin founded Sea Island Investments back in 1926. Coffin was founder of the Hudson Motor Company and designed the original Hudson Motor Car, one of the first mass produced motorcars, which sold for less than $1000.
Coffin and his young cousin, A.W. Jones, worked to make Coffin’s dream of a seaside oasis come true. In late 1928, The Cloister at Sea Island was born, it was designed in the Spanish style of Palm Beach architect Addison Mizner and their first course to be built at Sea Island was the Walter Travis, Plantation Course. Situated on the historic Retreat Plantation on St. Simons Island, the course opened in the summer of 1927 and quickly gained popularity.
There are not many true links courses in North American but the Colt and Alison Seaside course design is one of the rare few and rightly holds a place in American golf course history and recently moved up 111 place to 76th in the worlds top 250 courses.

My tips to Win:
This week’s defending champion is Ludvig Åberg 11/1 – with UniBet – and this will be his first appearance in the Fall Series of events. I do like to see players defend their titles and Ludvig could have quite easily have dodged defending this week. No doubt he will be coming in a bit ring rusty, but I expect him to make the cut and then start to move up the leaderboard over the weekend
Another player that didn’t need to be here this week is Denny McCarthy 28/1 – with UniBet – who has three Top 10 finishes from his seven starts here including last year’s Top 5 finish. I am sure Denny will be looking forward to being back out competing this week
Four Top 25 finishes from his six starts on the Fall Series should see Ben Griffin 33/1 – with UniBet – arrive here this week in confident mood, especially with his best finish in these events come at the weekend in Bermuda where he made the Top 10. Ben has played in this event three times and made the Top 10 in his last start here firing a final round 61
Each-way tips:
Sitting in fifty-first place on the FedEx cup ranking is Mackenzie Hughes 40/1 – with UniBet – and a good finish here this week will see him move into the Top 50 and eligible for all full-field and signature events. Mackenzie has two Top 10 finishes from his three starts on the Fall Series and has a win and two runner-up finishes in this event from his eight starts
It has certainly been a mixed bag of finishes in his four starts on the Fall Series for Eric Cole 40/1 – with UniBet – with two missed cuts and two Top 20 finishes. Eric’s last start was at the Zozo Championship where he had a sixth-place finish, but his third-place finish here last year shooting 61 along the way, should see him looking forward to being back here this week
Outside tip:
Sitting right on the bubble at 129th place on the FedEx rankings is Pierceson Coody 125/1 – with BetFred – who needs another good finish this week to take him inside the Top 125 and earn his tour card for next year. Pierceson has had a horrid Fall Series with three missed cuts from his six starts, but there was a glimmer of hope in Bermuda at the weekend where he had a Top 15 finish
