Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The tour stays in Florida for The PLAYERS Championship and what many call the fifth Major and now always will be synonymous with COVID19. The PLAYERS marked the start of isolation and no sport for many of us around the world. I am sure many of the players will recall that Thursday when the tournament was cancelled as they arrive here this week.
The Players is always a great event and Pete Dye’s Stadium course is a fitting venue that doesn’t disappoint. Every year this course throws up drama and none more so than the 17th, plenty has been said about this hole, but there is a true replica at Eagles Eye golf club in Michigan that you can play if you can’t make it to Sawgrass.
The Players now offers the highest prize fund on the PGA Tour at a staggering $25 million with the winner taking a $4.5 million cut of that. The tournament used to be a warm up to the Masters and played in March, but with the move to May as a lead up to the US Open, the course now plays very differently and is much dryer, harder and faster.
In 2006 the course implemented massive changes, they tore up the old course and then brought in 26,600 tons of sand, 2.6 million square feet of Bermuda grass, 116,600 feet of pipe for irrigation, 19 acres of sod for landscaping, 200 new trees made up of oaks, pines and palms, new natural waste areas, lower-level bunkers, greenside chipping areas and water hazards. From a spectators point of view it makes great viewing, the changes are seen as a positive move by both the players and the tour.

My tips to Win:
No real surprise going with the world number one Scottie Scheffler 11/2 with Bet365 who is this weeks defending champion and comes into the tournament on the back of winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational by five shots
Coming into this week on the back of three Top 15 finishes from his last three starts is Will Zalatoris 28/1 with SpreadEx with the last two starts being a runner-up at the Genesis and a Top 5 at the weekend
Its great to see Hideki Matsuyama 28/1 with LiveScoreBet back in form and challenging, something we spotted when we tipped him for his win at the Genesis Invitational and he followed that win up with a Top 15 at the weekend. Hideki has only been outside the Top 25 twice in this event from his seven starts and had his best finish here last year with a Top 5
Each-way tips:
A Top 10 finish at the weekend for Max Homa 33/1 with SpreadEx at the Arnold Palmer Invitational made it his best finish of the year so far, that is not to say Max hasnt been playing well he has four Top 16 finishes from his six starts. Homa has two Top 15 finishes here from his three starts and has improved his placing each year culminating with last years sixth-place finish and I can see him keeping that progression going this week
It has been a slow start to the year for Shane Lowry 35/1 with BetVictor with one Top 25 from his first three starts which included a miss cut, but he has bounced back on the Florida swing with two Top 5 finishes from his last two starts and comes into this week bang in form.
Outside tip:
A sixth-place finish here last year should see Min Woo Lee 50/1 with LiveScoreBet looking forward to teeing it up again at Sawgrass. Min Woo had a runner-up finish two weeks ago at the Cognizant Classic and while he got off to a great start at the Arnold Palmer he drifted out of contention. But I feel with those positive memories from last year these could turn out to be very good odds.
