After a long season I must admit I thought there would be more than a two week gap between the Tour Championship and the start of the new Fall Series or it would start after the Presidents Cup. But, here we are the start of the new 2024/25 season or should I say the 2024 Fall Series!

There are two courses at Silverado, the North and South, which opened for play in April 1967 when the Silverado Country Club & Resort came into being. The original 18-hole course was redesigned into two 18-hole courses by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, and the North course, which is the track I play, has just been through another redesign, this time by 1976 Open Champion Johnny Miller.

If you have already read my review of Sonoma GC and how that takes course maintenance up another notch from Windsor, then Silverado takes it to a whole new level. I have never seen this many green-keeping staff in one place – and believe me I see them all as I’m first out chasing them round, making it round in two-and-a-half hours. There are at least two if not three or four guys on every hole.

My tips to Win:

This weeks defending champion is Sahith Theegala 11/1 – with AKBets – who finished the season with three Top 6 finishes from his last six starts, one of which was his third-place finish at the Tour Championship. Apart from his win Sahith has two other Top 15 finishes from his four starts in this event

This isn’t a tournament that Wyndham Clark 12/1 – with BetFred – normally plays well in having not challenged here in his four starts. But, Wyndham did finish the year well having only finished outside the Top 15 once in his last seven starts – which was a missed cut at The Open – and he has four Top 10 finishes in that run. I expect him to be challenging come Sunday

Last year Max Homa 25/1 – with LiveScoreBet – was trying to make it three wins in a row in this event and although he didn’t win, he did make the Top 10, which I feel illustrates how much Max enjoys teeing it up at the Silverado Resort

Each-way tips:

After dominating the Fall Series last year with four Top 5 finishes from his five starts I was surprised Eric Cole 40/1 – with AKBets – didn’t challenge more this year. Eric wasn’t inside the Top 10 again until June where he then had three Top 7 finishes in the space of five starts. But I do expect him to be back challenging again this week

Two Top 10 finishes in his last two starts here should see Brendon Todd 45/1 – with SpreadEx – arrive at the Silverado Resort looking forward to teeing it back up on the North Course this week

Outside tip:

It has been a mixed bag in this event for Justin Lower 100/1 – with BetFred – who has teed it up three times here and has a missed cut a Top 4, which he followed up with a Top 50. It was an indifferent year for Justin having only really challenged twice, but he finished the season solidly and will be looking to get the Fall Series off to a good start this week

Longer odds:

Try Seong-hyeon Kim 150/1 – with Bet365

As always good luck
