Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
It’s 6.45am and the sun is rising on my last day in Switzerland and I am both sad and excited. Sad because it’s been an amazing four days of golf, but excited as I am about to play Crans-Sur-Sierre seven-days after the European Tour’s, Omega European Masters was held here and I know the course is going to be in spectacular condition.
As I stand on the 1st tee, the grass is manicured to perfection and I am surrounded by Swiss wooden apartments. I hadn’t realised how close they were, but it makes my opening tee shot all the more impressive. The 540-yard par 5 plays downhill and it’s when you get to the crest of the hill that the views start to open up. A wedge sees me on the putting surface and I break into a smile as I walk onto the green. It’s like walking on a snooker table – not that I have ever walked on a snooker table, but if I had this is how I imagine it to feel.
Even though it has been a week since the tournament, the greens roll true and fast and with the subtle and not so subtle breaks your putting game really needs to be in great shape if you want to score well. As I make my way round, there are lots of familiar sights which most avid golf viewers will recognise. But you really don’t get the feeling of how claustrophobic the 6th hole can be driving down that avenue of pines.

My tips to Win:
Having won this event twice, had a runner-up and a third-place finish last year I think it is safe to say Matt Fitzpatrick 10/1 – with UniBet – loves teeing it up in this Swiss canton. It hasn’t been a great season on the PGA Tour for Matt, but I think being back here will bring out the best in his golf game
This will be the second week in a row that Rasmus Højgaard 20/1 – with AKBets – will be heading back to a course where he has won before. Rasmus third victory came at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf club back in 2021 when he stormed up the leaderboard with a final round 63. I am sure he will have a lot of positive memories of that victory, and arriving here after a third-place finish at The Belfry at the weekend should mean he arrives in confident mood
Another past winner of this event is Thriston Lawrence 20/1 – with AKBets – who won here two years ago opening up with a round of 62. Thriston comes into this week on the back of a runner-up finish at the Belfry at the weekend, which made it his fourth runner-up finish this year. I am sure he will be frustrated that he has not got one of those over the line and will be hoping being back at a course that he has won on, will be just what he needs to don that red jacket this week
Each-way tips:
It has been a solid first full season on the European Tour for Alex Fitzpatrick 40/1 – with AKBets – and he comes into this week on the back of two Top 15 finishes in his last two starts. Alex had a Top 5 finish here last year in his first ever start at this event and I am sure he will be looking to be back in the thick of it again come Sunday
Two Top 5 finishes in his last two starts including a runner-up, which made it his third runner-up finish this season should see Jesper Svensson 45/1 – with BetMGMUK – arriving with his golf game in great shape. This will be the first time that Jesper will be teeing it up in this event, but in his current form I expect him to be challenging again this week
Outside tips:
It hasn’t been a great season for Gavin Green 66/1 – with SkyBet – but there have been some positive signs over the last few weeks and a Top 10 finish at the weekend at the British Masters shows that Gavin’s golf game is moving in the right direction. Green has played in this event five times and in his first two starts made the Top 15 both times and last year had a Top 10 finish. I feel these could turn out to be great odds for the Malaysian
As I stated last week when Brandon Robinson Thompson 70/1 – with SkyBet – was on the reserve list for the British Masters, look out for this lad as I don’t think it will be long before he will win his first European Tour event
