Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
The European Tour now moves back to Africa for the Magical Kenya Open and will be played at the Muthaiga Golf Club, which has been in existence since the early 1920’s.
In 1967 the club hosted its first major golf tournament which is now known as the Magical Kenya Open. Among the many notable names that have played in the event include Bobby Locke, Bob Charles, Billy Casper, Ian Woosman, Vijay Singh, Sam Torrance, Sandy Lyle, Seve Ballesteros and Sir Nick Faldo.
The course is located on the edge of the Karura forest in the suburb of Muthaiga, to the north of Nairobi. The front nine holes are laid out across undulating terrain on the other side of Kambu Road, with the back nine routed around several man-made lakes.
In 2001 the club commissioned Peter Matkovich to undertake a redesign and modernisation programme and on November 6, 2004 the course was officially opened for play. Since that time the Muthaiga Golf Club has become renowned for the quality of its greens and landscaped bunkers, water, trees and flowering bushes that come into play on many of the holes. There have also been recent renovations with new ponds being introduced at the 15th and 16th holes.

My tips to Win:
A runner-up in this event two years ago, firing two 66s along the way was Thriston Lawrence 16/1 with UniBet Thriston started the season well with four Top 11 finishes from his first four starts including a runner-up finish at the Dubai Invitational, but has since missed two cuts from his last three starts. But with the field this week and those positive memories from two years ago I expect him to be contending this week
A Top 10 finish here last year should see Ewen Ferguson 18/1 with SportingIndex arrive here looking forward to this week. Ewen comes into this week on the back of three Top 25 finishes from his last four starts including a Top 10 finish at the Qatar Masters
A player that we tipped several times at the beginning of the season was Alex Fitzpatrick 22/1 with SportingIndex who had four Top 20 finishes from his first four starts including at Top 10 at the Australian Open. But like Thriston has since gone off the boil in his last two starts, again with the field this week I expect him to be back challenging
Each-way
With two runner-up finishes so far this season Jesper Svensson 28/1 with Bet365 has certain challenged and comes into this week on the back of a Top 20 finish at the Qatar Masters after just missing out in Bahrain
With five Top 25 finishes from his seven starts so far this season Aaron Cockerill 40/1 with BetFred should be looking forward to being back in Kenya this week. Aaron had a runner-up finish here last year and while he missed the cut at the Qatar Masters I expect him to be back contending again this come Sunday
Outside tip:
A past champion of this event over this course is Ashun Wu 66/1 with Ladbrokes who comes into this week on the back of a Top 10 finish at the Qatar Masters and should arrive in confident mood.
