Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
As the European Tour returns this week and players make their way to The Netherlands they won’t have far to travel once they land at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. Designed by Masters champion Ian Woosnam and Belgian designer, Bruno Steensels of Mastergol, the course is just yards from passport control at Amsterdam airport.
Sitting to the east of the Buitenveldertbaan and Oostbaan runways TV will have a lot of air traffic noise to battle with this week and for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and the general white noise of life, may want to give this track a miss.
The course runs as an outside to inside clockwise to counter clockwise routing and with the terrain in The Netherlands being quite flat this designed enhanced what elevation changes that were available.
The course is relatively short going by today’s standards for a championship course, measuring only 6,966-yards with a par of 73, so the winning score could well be up in the -20s. Strategy is the key on this dramatic dune landscape with undulating fairways – some featuring water – and greens that can measure over 60-yard deep, which can get up to Augusta like speeds.
While the opening holes are interesting it does go a bit flat in the middle but builds and starts to become more dramatic from the par-5 15th hole, with the 18th being the courses signature hole, where water guards the green short and left and bunkers running down the right of the fairway.

My tips to Win:
I am sure Tom McKibbin 16/1 – with AKBets – will take a lot of positives from making the cut at the US Open at the weekend. His finish was only the third time that he has been outside the Top 25 this season on the European Tour from his thirteen starts
It has been a strange season for Rasmus Højgaard 18/1 – with BetFred – who started with five Top 11 finishes from his first five starts, in his next five starts he had only one Top 20 which came at the Volvo Scandinavian Mixed two weeks ago. I am sure a couple of weeks off working on his game, that he will come back refreshed and ready to go again this week
Another player that has had a few weeks rest and coming back to a venue where he had a third-place finish the last time this event was played here is Matt Wallace 20/1 – with BetFred – who will also arrive refreshed and feeling some positive vibes being back at this venue
Each-way tips:
This week’s defending champion is Pablo Larrazábal 45/1 – with BetVictor – and while he did win at another venue, he will still want to put up a good defence of his title this week. Coming into this event last year Pablo already had a win under his belt, but he hasn’t reached those heights this year. He did seem to find something at the European Open and I expect him to compete again this week
It is hard not to tip Dutchman Joost Luiten 55/1 – with BetVictor – who has won this event twice, had a runner-up finish and had a Top 10 finish the last time the event was held at this venue. Joost has played some solid golf this year without really challenging, but being back in front of a partisan crowd I expect him to be back in the thick of it come the weekend
Outside tip:
Gavin Green 90/1 – with Bet365 – showed glimpses of being back to his best at the Scandinavian Mixed and played at this venue the last time the event was held here
