Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
Firstly it was great to see Cam Davis back in the winners circle. This week sees the PGA Tour hit the Midwest in Western Illinois and the return of the John Deere Classic, which has been played at the TPC Deere Run Championship course since 2000.
The rolling terrain and wooded ravines were the perfect arena for ex PGA touring professional, DA Weibring to design this beautiful track and with the wooded areas of this former Arabian horse farm sitting next to the Rock River, it’s easy to see why Golf Digest ranked this course at No 42 in the US 100 greatest public golf courses.
The Championship tees measure a tough 7,256-yard and with a par 71 it will test every club and shot making skill of those who compete here this week. The TPC Deere Run is just two hours from Chicago and is located in the Quad Cities region of Western Illinois.

My tips to Win:
This weeks defending champion is Sepp Straka 20/1 – with BetVictor – who has had eight Top 25 finishes from his last eleven starts, which includes three Top 5 finishes and he will want to defend his title in style
I am going to stick with Aaron Rai 25/1 – with Bet365 – again this week after his runner-up finish at the weekend, which made it his second Top 5 finish in his last six starts. And with this field I expect him to be challenging again this week
With back-to-back sixth-place finishes in the last two years in this event Denny McCarthy 30/1 – with BetVictor – should be looking forward to teeing it up at TPC Deere Run again this week. It hasn’t been a great season for Denny with his best finish being a runner-up and one other Top 10, but I expect him to be challenging again here come Sunday.
Each-way tips:
It has been a tough back end of the season for Eric Cole 55/1 – with BetFred – with five missed cuts from his last nine starts. But, with his sixth-place finish at the weekend at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, it was like he had put all that baggage behind him and I feel he will continue to challenge again this week
Another player that seems to enjoy teeing it up on the TPC Deere Run course is Adam Schenk 70/1 – with BetFred – who has three Top 10 finishes here from his five starts, two of which were fourth-places finishes. It hasn’t been a great few weeks on the PGA Tour for Adam with four missed cuts and a withdrawal, but I think being back here with those positive vibes from previous finishes may be just what he needs at the moment
Outside tip:
Although he had a missed cut at the weekend Lee Hodges 80/1 – with Bet365 – had three Top 25 finishes in his previous five starts and I feel he will bounce back this week
