Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
This week sees the start of the FedEx Cup play-offs and first up is the FedEx St Jude Championship.
Ron Prichard designed TPC Southwind, which opened as a private members golf club in March 1988. Prichard enlisted the advice of PGA tour players Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller to turn 240 acres of countryside into this stunning track.
The natural lakes and streams are the foundation on which this course has been designed and there are two-grain silos and a windmill that stand as a reminder of the dairy farm that once frequented this site.
One of the course’s signature holes is the par 3 11th hole which is similar to the 17th at TPC Sawgrass where players take aim at an island green 165-yards away. The course record is 61, jointly held by Jay Delsing and Bob Estes.

My tips to Win:
Coming in on a high from his gold medal win and his sixth win of the season is Scottie Scheffler 15/4 – with Bet365 – Scottie wasn’t really in the running at Paris 2024 going into the final round, but a wonderful round of 62 see him storm up the leaderboard and on to the top of the podium as others faltered. And he will once again be the man to beat this week
It feels like it has been a poor season for Rory McIlroy 19/2 – with SpreadEx – and for him it probably has been by his standards, but for anyone else two wins, a runner-up in a major and four other Tops 5s and only being outside the Top 25 three times in sixteen starts would be an amazing year. But, Rory loves the FedEx Cup play-offs and he will be right in the thick of it again this week
I am sure the silver medal at the Olympic Games two weeks ago is going to give Tommy Fleetwood 25/1 – with AKBets – an added bounce in his step coming into the FedEx Cup play-offs. Tommy had a third-place finish here last year and I think we will see him challenging again this week
Each-way tips:
A past winner of this event is Tony Finau 33/1 – with AKBet – although that was won at a different venue Tony did have a Top 5 the first year it came back to TPC Southwinds. Since his runner-up finish at the Houston Open Tony has only been outside the Top 20 three times in those eleven starts with two Top 5 in his last four starts
I am going to stick with Billy Horschel 45/1 – with UniBet – again this week. Billy challenged for the lead at the Wydnham Championship, but finally finished in seventh-place, which followed on from his runner-up at The Open Championship and he is playing with a lot of confidence at the moment
Outside tip:
After playing so well in the Fall Series Eric Cole 125/1 – with BetVictor – fell away as the main season started. But, with three Top 10 finishes from his last five starts and needing a good week to make it through to the BMW Championship, I expect him to be challenging again this week
