Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
While most of the worlds top players battle it out for the final Major Championship of the year the PGA Tour and the European Tour get together again this week for the Barracuda Championship giving the players that have not qualified for the Open Championship another tournament to compete in.
The Old Greenwood golf club opened for play in 2004 and plays host this week in Truckee, California. Nestled among 600 acres of towering pines in mountains near North Lake Tahoe and weighing in at 7,518 yards from the tips, is an18 holes Jack Nicklaus Signature designed course. Old Greenwood has been rated among the 10 Best New Public Courses in the Country by Golf Magazine, and rated number four among America’s Finest New Upscale Public Courses by Golf Digest.
The course has beautiful mountain backdrops of the High Sierras and winds through tall pines that line its twisting fairways. Deep bunkers and water hazards guard large demanding greens. The golf course is part of the Tahoe Mountain Club, which is also home to a golf academy with one of the best practice facilities in northern California.
The Barracuda Championship uses a modified Stableford involves scoring points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole
Albertros = 8 Pts
Eagle = 5 Pts
Birdie = 2 Pts
Par = 0 Pts
Bogey = -1 Pts
Double bogey or more = -3 Pts
