Golf Monthly is the market leading golfing magazine in the UK. It's a lively and welcoming read that is targeted at good golfers who are regular players - and keen to get even better.
With over 100 years of heritage and authority behind it, it represents the real 'voice of golf' with leading columnists, top players and unrivalled coverage of equipment and instruction.
Firstly congratulations to the victorious European Ryder Cup team and especially to captain Luke Donald and his amazing game plan for the Friday and Saturday matches. Also to Zach Johnson and the USA Players who put on an amazing comeback in the Sunday singles, to make it a very nerve few hours with some great golf being played by both sides. Can’t wait for Bethpage in 2025.
The home of golf will see some of the best players in the world turn up to compete in this weeks Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The players will not only be competing on the hallowed turf that is St Andrews, but also Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, three of the best courses in Fife. All three are in Golf Monthly’s Top 100 courses of Great Britain and Ireland, only Kingbarns is just outside the Top 10 at number eleven.

If Tommy Fleetwood 8/1 – with 888Sport – can survive the massive hangover and his adrenalin pumped come down, he really does have a great recored in this championship without ever winning it! Apart from his two runner-up finishes, he has three other Top 5s and has only been outside the Top 25 once in his eleven starts. I think you could say Tommy loves teeing it up in this event!
This weeks defending champion is the recently crowned BMW PGA Champion Ryan Fox 18/1 – with 888Sport – and he will be looking forward to defending his title this week
Each-way tips:
I am sure Yannik Paul 35/1 – with BetFred – was over the moon for the European Ryder Cup team last week, but he will also be smarting from missing out on one of those captains picks and he will want to prove a point come Sunday
Another past champion of this event is Thorbjørn Olesen 40/1 – with UniBet – who also has a runner-up finish. While they are his best finishes from the nine times he has teed it up in this event, he does come into this event on the back of a Top 10 at the Open de France and having won earlier in the year
I am going to stick with Connor Syme 60/1 – with UniBet – this week despite him missing the cut at the Open de France when he fired a second round 80. Connor had been on a great run of form up until that point with four Top 10 finishes on the spin. Syme has played in this event four times and had two Top 15 finishes, hopefully that one bad round doesn’t knock him off course and we see the Scotsman challenging again this week
Outside tip:
With his first professional win on the European Challenge Tour which he followed up with a runner-up on the main tour a couple of weeks later and a Top 5 finish at the Omega European Masters Alex Fitzpatrick 90/1 – with UniBet – should be approaching his second appearance in this event with some confidence and I think these could turnout to be very good odds
