The main technology in the ZX 5 Mk ll is the rebound frame, which is comprised of two zones which work together. The first zone is the driver face, which deforms inwards at impact. Zone two is a ring of flexibility which is offset from the face and deforms outwardly. These two zones snap back into shape just after impact and the compound energy that you have created transfers back into the ball and delivers the maximum ball speed from your swing speed.
The rebound frame adds a 10% larger high COR (coefficient of restitution) – which is the transfer of the energy from the club face into the back of the ball – area of the ZX5 Mk ll driver face compared to the previous generation.
The face has been designed with a variable thickness pattern that is 0.25mm thinner in the centre and 0.4mm thicker at the perimeter than Srixon’s last generation of drivers. These add to the driver’s COR across the face, which again helps increase ball speed and distance.
The star frame crown is a series of ridges and latticework that gives the driver its strength and the reason why Srixon have been able to use an ultralight titanium crown. This gives them the freedom to place discretionary mass where it is best suited to optimise launch and spin.
The design has a larger footprint, flattened shape, and a 8gm rear weight has been placed low and deep to obtain a higher launch angle. The weight can be replaced from the additional weights available to adjust swing weight or this can be adjusted at a custom fitting and with the adjustable hosel you can choose your loft, lie and face angle.

Conclusion:
I had enjoyed testing the ZX5 Mk ll so much at Heythrop Park that I kept it in the bag an extra couple of days to play in my club competitions that weekend. I think that should tell you how much I rated this driver.
From the looks at address, the ball flight and distance, the feel and sound at impact, I loved every minute of playing with this driver and coming in at the price point it does, makes the Srixon ZX5 Mk ll a must have on your testing list.
