Technology:

The new Abacus Pitch 37.5 collection is a play on words based on the ideal core temperature of a human, being is 37.5°. Abacus use a highly stretchable, extremely lightweight, breathable material for their new rain wear apparel.

Invented by Dr Gregory Haggquist, the 37.5 Technology embeds active particles made from volcanic sand into the material which then uses the body’s energy to remove moisture.

These sand particles contain billions of micropores which absorb infrared light that is emitted from the human body, this energy is what powers the particles. If no moisture (i.e. sweat) is present and you feel cool – the particles retain this energy to help keep you warm. If moisture is present and you are hot – the particles use this energy to remove moisture.

This helps keep the microclimate next to your skin at a constant – and comfortable – relative humidity of 37.5% and at the ideal core temperature of 37.5° Celsius.

Pitch 37.5 Rain Jacket

The technology ensures the wearer remains warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot, and uses a water-repellent treatment on the outside of the fabric that enables rain to roll off the surface to keep you dry. While its four-way stretch properties enable you to swing unrestricted.

The jacket’s lower sleeve features extra elastic to keep it from flapping and a drawstring at the neck allows for easy adjustment for a perfect fit. And for those who carry their golf bags Abacus have added a rubber anti-slip print on the shoulders that helps keep your golf bag strap in place.

Pitch 37.5 Rain Trousers

Made from the same material the trousers are lightweight and highly breathable, ensuring the lower half of your body remains dry and at the perfect temperature in all weathers. Again the four-way stretch material allows you freedom of movement. The lower legs feature side zippers for easy removal, two side pockets, an adjustable Velcro waistband with pop button.

Conclusion:

I have now tested these at Farleigh Golf Club in Surrey over the last couple of weeks and as you can imagine in England this time of year we have had both bright cold mornings and dull rainy days and on all occasions I have been both warm and dry and have been able to swing my golf club freely, with a nice gross 74 thrown in, so you can see my swing certainly hasn’t been restricted.

We have all had those rain suits that have those annoying little leaks in certain places and gaps that you wish you could tighten especially around the neck, when it starts to get cold, but I have enjoyed every minute that I have been testing this rain suit. I am not a fan of winter golf but playing in the Abacus Pitch 37.5 suit will definitely be extending my golf season this year and into next and I highly recommend you put this rain suit on your Christmas list.
