I am sure a lot of you are like me, the onset of autumn brings a sense of wonder on golf courses everywhere, the changing of the colours as reds, yellow and orange start to juxtapose against the greens, it really is a majestic time of year. Alas what it also brings is how quickly bright sunny days can start to have a chilly edge to it, this isn’t too much of a problem if you are wearing the right apparel.

With that in mind I recently undertook four rounds of golf in what is known as the garden of England, Kent. What better place to see all those wonderful changes in colour, while testing Oscar Jacobson’s Autumn/Winter 2018/19 apparel range.

Technology:

This season Oscar Jacobson have introduced PrimaLoft ® which is an ultralight, warm padding material that helps retain heat but without all that bulky padding reducing your swing movements. This technology is used in the Carson hybrid jackets giving you a padded body section with knitted sleeves, this gives you core insulation at the same time as not restricting your swing in anyway. The Caleb also uses the PrimaLoft ® which is a sleeveless body warmer that works well on its own or you can utilise the ZIP-IN technology wearing it under one of Oscar Jacobson’s waterproof jackets like the Lawrie Pro shell jacket.

The Merino collection uses a Cashwool ® 100% Extrafine merino wool and comes in a classic V-neck and quarter-zip options. This soft, luxurious wool came from intensive research in the late 1970s to find a yarn combining aesthetic beauty with top-quality performance.

Intelligent Layering is a big part of the Oscar Jacobson philosophy, the short sleeve Chap polo and Chauncery long sleeve polo, work with the Jonathan and Roald thermals, these combinations offer base and inner layering options for comfort and warmth.

Conclusion:

We have reviewed Oscar Jacobson’s new apparel ranges for several years and their standard and quality of material has been second to none and their research and development to improve comfort, protection while giving you minimum swing restriction has not been surpassed by any other apparel company and the new AW2018 range is no different.

I love this year’s three distinctive colour palette and feel they blend well, but it is the technology that has gone into this current collection protecting me from the cold and rain keeping me warm, dry and most of all still being able to swing my golf club that is impressing me the most.

Oscar Jacobson have over 114-years of tailoring behind them so the cuts of the apparel are always going to offer you a quality fit, but standing on the tee on a cold day as its raining, trying to swing a golf club you want to feel cocooned in a warm bubble and Oscar Jacobson have nailed it yet again with this new Autumn/Winter collection.
