January will see the Wilson Staff FG Tour equipment range enhanced with the new Wilson Staff FG Tour V4 irons and Wilson Staff FG Tour V4 utility irons which features an adjustable weight in the sole.

The FG Tour V4 irons have been designed with the low handicapped golfer in mind, the latest forged irons are now seen as a reliable option for accomplished golfers looking for both exceptional feel and greater ball flight control.

Testing
With vigorous testing of prototypes the latest FG Tour V4 irons have been put through their paces already by Wilson's advisory members, including three time Major winner Padraig Harrington and Kevin Streelman, who had two PGA victories with the V2 irons and won the Travelers Championship in June with an incredible seven consecutive birdies. "The first prototype V4 iron I put in my hand confirmed we're making adjustments to the right things," claims Streelman.

Technology
The new irons incorporate an 18-gram tungsten sole weight from 3-iron through to 7-iron that lowers the centre of gravity whilst increasing the launch angle without added spin. The result is greater height on long and mid-iron shots to produce a steeper angle of descent to hold greens and attack difficult pin positions.

The upper portion of the clubface - where no impact occurs - has been thinned by 11% in order to reposition mass where it can optimise launch, spin and Moment of Inertia (MOI).

Weight has also been moved lower and towards the heel and toe of the irons helping improve forgiveness, although the mass remains concentrated in the strike area to maintain that solid muscle-back blade-like feel at impact and provide workability on centre or close-to-centre strikes.

The FG V4s have precision milled grooves on a forged 8620 carbon steel giving you plenty of ball and spin control. The V4s will use the True Dynamic Gold Pro range of shafts.

The V4 utility irons are designed to help better players hit long shots into the greens as well as control ball flight in windy conditions.

It features similar cosmetics to the V4 iron but incorporates a 7-gram adjustable weight in the centre of the sole which will enable golfers to fine tune ball flight with personal fittings depending on the course conditions.

The utility models features similar lofts, lies and swing weights for easy transition from your irons to your utility club. The shaft lengths are longer than the V4 irons and the blades are lighter. The soles and toplines are wider and slightly more offset which helps the players ability to work the ball while adding forgiveness.

The extremely thin, responsive face is made from Carpenter Custom 455 maraging - the strongest stainless steel available which creates a high Characteristic Time (CT) for improved ball speeds and distance.

Wilson state the use of this material has freed up weight so that mass could be moved low and to the toe for optimised centre of gravity, and is supported by a 9-gram tungsten weight placed in the toe to eliminate any draw bias in the head.

The V4 Utility Irons come with a 90-gram stock MRC Kuro Kage Black 90 graphite shaft, which features a smooth bend profile.

Price
Wilson Staff FG Tour V4 irons (4-PW) £549,

Wilson Staff FG Tour V4 utility irons (2, 3 & 4 -iron) £119 each.
