It seems like a long wait but the European Tour is back this week with a bang and tees up at the Peter Harradine designed Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the UAE for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The course weaves through undulating terrain and features palms, ornamental trees, shrubs, seven saltwater lakes, strategically placed bunkers and generous greens. The course opened for play in October 2000, where its iconic clubhouse in the shape of a falcon with outstretched wings underwent a refurbishment for last year’s event.
The course also had a bit of a make-over for the 2011 tournament, with new tees on the 8th and 10th, the 6th and 14th were extended taking the total yardage to a testing 7,590 yds, which will test one of the best fields to be assembled for a golf tournament so far this year.

My tips to Win:
I feel what Justin Thomas 7/1 with WilliamHill has over the rest of the field this week is that he already has a competitive tournament under his belt and while this maybe the first time that he has teed it up at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club nothing beats being match fit and making decisions in the heat of battle.
Having said that I feel Tommy Fleetwood 14/1 BetFred with his knowledge of the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and his two wins and a runner-up in his last four starts here shows how much he has learnt to play this course having missed the cut in three of his first five starts here.
It also took Matthew Fitzpatrick 14/1 with BetFair a couple of missed cut before he started to challenge here and now has been inside the Top 3 in his last two starts including a runner-up finish last year. Matthew finished last year off with a win in the desert taking the DP World Tour Championship, so being back out here should bring lots of positive vibes with it.
Bernd Wiesberger 40/1 with Ladbrokes has had three Top 15 finishes here in his last four starts including a fourth-place finish. There werent many highlights for Bernd last year with only three Top 10s on the European Tour, but a Top 5 at the RSM Classic at the end of the year on the PGA Tour where he fired a final round 63 and followed that up with a Top 10 in Dubai a couple weeks later, should give him a confidence boost coming into the new year.
During a recent interview Thomas Pieters 45/1 with BetFred stated he has become a more relaxed person on the course since having his first child and I am sure he has enjoyed the Christmas break. If he takes the positive energy that that provides like Kevin Na stated in his interview after winning in Hawaii at the weekend, then Pieters with his three Top 5 finishes here is a great bet at these odds.
A past champion here Jamie Donaldson 110/1 with BetFred started to come back into form at the back end of last season and put a lot of his injury woes behind him with six Top 10 finishes after the restart that included third place and runner-up finishes. Apart from that win here Jamie also has a couple of Top 15 finishes and I think these are good odds for the Welshman.
