After last week’s excitement of pairs golf and the fourball and foursomes format its back to the Florida swing of the PGA Tour, where the players tee it up at the Copperhead course on the Innisbrook Resort at Palm Harbor, Florida.
It’s always a good indicator of how good a course is when the players that compete on the tour say great things about the track. Paul Azinger, 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain said, “Copperhead is the best course we play on Tour.” Two times US Open Champion Curtis Strange stated, “If I could only play one course the rest of my life, it would be Copperhead. It has that much character.”
Designed by Larry & Roger Packard in 1974 its 7.300 yards is characterised by its rolling terrain and tree lined fairways, The course makes the most of its natural lakes and ponds which are home to an abundant of wildlife including fox squirrels, bald eagles, alligators, blue herons, and many other types of water fowl.

My tips to Win:
With two runner-up finishes here Patrick Reed 20/1 – with BetFair – will feel he has unfinished business over the Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort, he also has another Top 10 from his six starts here. Patrick has already won on the PGA Tour this year and comes into this week after a Top 10 at The Masters and will be in confident mood when he tees it up on Thursday.
How can I not go for defending champion Paul Casey 22/1 – with WilliamHill – especially when he is going for three wins in a row in this event. Paul missed the cut at the RBC Heritage but did start the year with a run of four Top 10 finishes including a Top 5 at The Players Championship and with an historic three in a row on the line I expect him to pull out all the stops to make it happen.
Another player that should be in buoyant mood when he arrives is Corey Conners 22/1 – with Betfair – who has four Top 10 finishes from his last six starts two of which where Top 5s and the other two coming at The Players Championship and at The Masters, Corey also had a Top 15 at the Valero Texas Open. Conners has played in this event once before and made the Top 16 and that was despite a final round 77!
Its hard not to tip Sung-Jae Im 30/1 – with BetFred – nearly every week the man is like a Top 10 machine and its only when you see him at these odds do you think he would be perfect for an each-way tip. Having said that it was Sung-Jae has had two missed cuts in his last three starts, but having had a Top 5 finish in his only start over the Copperhead course the last time the tournament was played I am sure those positive vibes will help him this week.
Leading up to The Masters Jason Kokrak 40/1 – with 888Sport – had three Top 10 finishes on the spin and although he did make the cut at Augusta he didn’t really challenge. Jason had a runner-up finish here the last time the event was played in 2019, which followed on from his Top 10 finish the year before, that and in his current form and his recent liking for the Copperhead course I think we could see the Canadian challenging again this week.
I was going to tip Sam Horsfield 125/1 – with UniBet – if he was playing on the European Tour this week, but I see that he has made the trip across the Atlantic to tee it up here this week. Sam should be in confident mood after having played four events on the European Tour and has not been outside the Top 15 and that run includes two Top 5s the latest of which came at the weekend at the Gran Canaria Open where he shot a course record 61 along the way and these could turn out to be great odds for the Englishman.
Try Peter Uihlein 150/1 – with 10Bet
As always good luck
