So, we are down to the final thirty in this years FedEx Cup play-offs and what another exciting end of season it’s been as we head down to Atlanta, Georgia.

East Lake Golf Club is the home course of legendary amateur golfer Bobby Jones and has held some major golf tournaments including the Ryder Cup in 1963 and the US Amateur in 2001 and is now the permanent home to the Tour Championship since 2005.

The club motto is “Golf with a Purpose” and working with the local community, all profits from the club, as well as charitable donations from the club’s corporate membership support the East Lake Foundation. Helping Atlanta's East Lake residents by giving them opportunities to build a better future through education for children and adults, affordable housing, job readiness and connections with the broader community.

Established in 1904, East Lake is the oldest golf course in Atlanta. Originally designed by Tom Bendelow, but completely reworked by Donald Ross in 1913. In 1994, Rees Jones restored Donald Ross' original golf course layout, which now measures 7,374 yards.

The signature hole at the 168-yard, par 3 6th plays from an elevated tee to a diagonally angled peninsula green. This green existed on the original Tom Bendelow course where it served as the green at the par 5 16th and was at the time, one of the first island greens in America.

My tips to Win:

What an amazing play-off win for Patrick Cantlay 9/2 – with MansionBet – at the BMW Championship and going into East Lake with a two shot start over his nearest rival and starting on -10 he will be the man to beat this week. If I am honest the odds are not great when you are already starting ahead of the field, but that is the way the FedEx Cup Tour Championship is set up and with his putting back to its best the only thing that will beat Patrick this week is himself and those inner thoughts.

If those inner demons where to get to Patrick there are two players that I feel who have the ability and mental determination to go low enough and the first of those is Jon Rahm 4/1 – with 888Sport – who I have been backing since he had to withdraw from the Olympics. After starting so well at the BMW Championship, two final rounds of 70 were never going to be good enough on a low scoring course such at Caves Valley. But, East Lakes is a different proposition and I think he can make up that four shot deficit over four days.

Each-way tip

The other is Cameron Smith 28/1 – with SportNation – who nearly shot a 59 at The Northern Trust at Liberty National on the way to taking the runner-up spot. Cameron didn’t really challenge at the weekends BMW Championship and I feel that was understandable after the furore of just missing out on the 59 and the mental energy that takes out of a player. Smith has teed it up at East Lakes twice before, but I feel he is a better player than the one who played in those past events and if he gets that wand working again on the greens, then he can make up those five shots very quickly.

Without FedEx Cup bonus shots:

My tips to Win:

Rory McIlroy 11/1 – with SportingBet

Dustin Johnson 14/1 – with SportingBet

Each-way tips:

Erik Van Rooyen 50/1 – with SportingBet

As always good luck
