The Riviera Country Club was established in 1926 and has been open for play since 1927. Noted for its spectacular beauty and uniquely challenging design, the George C. Thomas masterpiece is perennially rated among the very finest in the world.
During the courses construction the renowned golf architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie paid a visit to inspect Thomas’s work. Following his tour of the property, Dr. MacKenzie remarked that the site “Was as fine as any I have seen" and that the George C Thomas’ design is “As nearly perfect as man could make it.”
Sometimes known as "Hogan's Alley" because of Ben Hogan's success here, it is also renowned for its par-3 sixth hole with a bunker in the middle of the green.
The 18th is probably one of golf's most unique and most recognised finishing holes. The green rests below the clubhouse in a natural amphitheater and a blind tee shot from below the level of the fairway must carry the crest of the hill to give you a decent look at the green.

My tips to Win:
No surprise the world number one Dustin Johnson 6/1 with VBet is the favourite this week, not only is he coming into this week on the back of his win at the Saudi International, but he has not been outside the Top 11 from his four starts on the wraparound season so far, which includes his win at Augusta. Talking of winning Dustin is a past champion of this event winning back in 2017 and he also has two runner-up finishes here.
If someone is going to pour their heart into to winning this week it will be Justin Thomas 14/1 with BetFred to honour his late grandfather, you could see Justin mentally breakdown in the middle of the WM Phoenix Open when he was told the news, it must have come as a devastating blow. Thomas was runner up here two years ago, it will be an emotional rollercoaster this week for him, but one that I think he can cope with.
One of the most inform golfers coming into this week is Patrick Cantlay 18/1 with WilliamHill who has a win and two Top 5 finishes in his last five starts and his third-place finish weekend at Pebble Beach followed his runner-up finish last week and shows what great shape his game is in right now. Patrick has not been outside the Top 20 in his last three starts in this event and I expect him to be in the thick of it again this week.
I must admit I was surprised to see Victor Hovland 33/1 with UniBet this far down the betting odds which to me makes him a great option in this section. Viktor has only been outside the Top 15 twice in his seven starts on this years wraparound season and throw in his third-place finish on the European Tours World Tour Championship and a sixth-place at the Saudi International he comes into this week in fantastic form.
When you have won an event three time that shows that not only do you enjoy playing the course but that it also suits your eye, Bubba Watson 45/1 with UniBet is that man and these are great odds for the lad from Bagdad. Bubba may not be in the best form of his life but he does have three Top 25 finishes from his six starts and two of those were Top 10 finishes and he will no doubt get a confidence boost as he drives through the gates of The Riviera Country Club
Having won just five weeks ago Kevin Na 80/1 with UniBet will surely be another player looking forward to being back here this week. I am sure Kevin was disappointed with missing the cut in Phoenix, but he does have three Top 5 finishes here including a runner-up finish and again I think he is worth a punt at these odds.
Try Charles Howell lll 200/1 with UniBet
As always good luck
