The PGA Tour stays in Las Vegas but moves just 10-miles from the Strip and by the Red Rock National Conservation Area, to the Tom Fazio designed Summit Club, which is owned by Discovery Land Company and The Howard Hughes Corporation.

There should be some amazing views of the Las Vegas strip this week on TV especially from the elevated tees and raised greens then in the opposite direction you have the Spring Mountains and of course the stunning jaxdpdosed positions of the lush emerald fairways with their brilliant white sanded bunkers and the desert landscape.

But, this is far from your normal desert style golf course design, think more lush parkland course transformed to the desert and with five teeing options there is a set of tees to suit your golf game, if you ever get the invite to play here of course, as this is an ultra exclusive golf course.

Players will get off to a quick start here with the 1st hole providing a great opportunity for an opening birdie. The first of the par 3s arrives at the 2nd with the Spring Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. The course comes to a fitting crescendo with the risk and reward par 5, 18th hole, the crown jewel of the Summit Club course with its dramatic slope on the elongated green that creates a unique challenge.




My tips to Win:

Another player that will be arriving full of confidence is Xander Schauffele 12/1 – with MansionBet – who now has a Ryder Cup victory next to his name as well as being the Olympic Champion. Xander was runner up in this event last year when it was held at Shadow Creek, which is also in Nevada and I expect him to be challenging again this week.

In its four year history Justin Thomas 14/1 – with OddsChecker – has won this event twice, in fact every other year and going by the numbers it’s his turn to win it again this year! But on a serious note, buoyed by the Ryder Cup victory and his own form during that event I expect him to be right in the thick of it again come Sunday.

Like many I was very surprised with Viktor Hovland 28/1 – with 10Bet – performance at the Shriners Children’s Open and maybe he needed a tournament to shake out his disappointment with the Ryder Cup defeat, but Viktor is too good a player to stay down for long and I expect him to be in one of those final pairings come Sunday.

Each-way tips:

Living in Arizona Paul Casey 45/1 – SportNation – will know this style of course very well and although it’s not a true desert course he will know the winds and intricacies that desert golf offers. This will be Paul’s first outing since the Ryder Cup, but at least he will have the comfort of fellow European’s teeing it up this week, which Viktor didn’t have last week.

Two starts on the new wraparound season and two Top 11 finishes for Talor Gooch 66/1 with – SportNation – and opening with a round of 64 at the Shriners Children’s Open no matter what the course is playing like will give Talor a lot of confidence and finishing it off with a round of 66 should see him arrive in buoyant mood for another assault at winning his maiden PGA Tour event. Gooch did have a Top 5 finish in this event last year at Shadow Creek

Outside tips:

Will the real Maverick McNealy 70/1 – with 10Bet – please stand up! After a runner-up finish at the wraparound season opener the Fortinet Championship, Maverick followed that up with a missed cut at the weekends Shriners Children’s Open. This will be Maverick’s first CJ Cup but I do feel that he will win his maiden PGA Tour event this year and what better place to start than here and at these odds.
