Firstly congratulations to Steve Stricker and the US Ryder Cup team on a magnificent win and some amazing and exciting golf and commiserations to Pádraig Harrington and the European Team, it’s always a tough ask to win away, but to do it with no fans was always going to be an uphill battle.

I have to say both teams played the matches in a great spirit and showed sportsmanship while also maintaining a determination to win, unlike the fans booing the European players shots and with shouts of get in the bunker. Sadly that has now given the green light to European fans to do the same and it seems this type of behaviour will only continue to escalate.

This week sees the new wraparound season moves to The Country Club of Jackson that came into to being in 1914, when a small group of businessmen purchased 100 acres off of Clinton Boulevard, five miles west of Jackson, this gave birth to The Country Cub of Jackson. At that time the Club was so far out of town that a local old gentleman, provided transport for people who did not have cars.

The original clubhouse was a large, old house on the property, which burnt down in 1936 and was replaced by an attractive, framed building and contained a large all-purpose room, ballrooms, small bar and a ladies locker room in the attic. Tragedy struck again with a fire that destroyed the clubhouse.

A brick, fireproof building, was built impressively decorated by Marshall Field of Chicago. The present property was purchased in the late fifties. Through the past 100 years, the Club has grown through a series of renovations and expansions to become what it is today

My tips to Win:

It will be interesting to see how Will Zalatoris 18/1 – with SportingBet – handles being the favourite this week, we did back him in the season opener at the Fortinet Championship where he just missed out on a Top 10 finish. I am sure Will see all those Ryder Cup celebrations from a lot of the younger players on the PGA Tour and will be looking to start building his CV ready for the 2023 matches in Rome.

It has been two-years since Corey Conners 22/1 – with 888Sport – won his maiden PGA Tour victory and like most players this week will see this isn’t the strongest field and will want get his wraparound season off to a winning start. Corey had ten Top 10 finishes and made the Tour Championship play-offs and only finished outside the Top 25 once from his last six starts, which includes the Olympics.

Each-way tips:

It’s a case of played one and one Top 5 for Keegan Bradley 35/1 – with WilliamHill – in this event, where he opened up with rounds of 66 and 65 last year. Keegan looked like he was going to come back into form when he had back-to-back forth place and runner-up finishes and followed those up with a couple of Top 20s but then missed a few cuts. Bradley will have a lot of positive memories from last year when he arrives here to kick start his wraparound season.

Another player that I am going to stick with from the Fortinet Championship is Mito Pereira 35/1 – with WilliamHill – although his odds have now been slashed after his third place finish playing some great golf along the way. This is Mito's first full season on the PGA Tour and he showed glimpses of what he can do when he had two Top six finishes on the spin at the Barbasol Championship and 3M Open, then followed that up with just missing out on the Bronze medal at the Olympics after finishing the season with back-to-back wins on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Sebastián Muñoz 55/1 – with UniBet – is a past champion winning this event last year in a play-off. Sebastián missed the cut at the Fortinet Championship firing a second round 80, but he had fourth place finishes sandwiching his last missed cut which was at the Open Championship and I sure being back here will only bring back those positive memories like it did this year when he opened up with a 64.

Outside tip:

It has been a tough couple of years for Chris Kirk 80/1 – with BetWay – who had issues with alcoholism, anxiety and depression, his battle is still far from over, something he made clear in a TV interview and is taking each day as it comes. Chris is a past champion here and also has a runner-up finish and a couple of Top 10s and he will be looking to get his wraparound season off to a good start.

Longer odds:

Try Peter Malnati 150/1 – with OddsChecker

As always good luck
