Another wonderful Masters that came to life on the back nine yet again and congratulations to Hideki Matsuyama on a fantastic win. The PGA tour now moves to South Carolina and arguably the oldest golf course in the United States, South Carolina Golf Club, which was formed by Scottish merchants in 1786.

Today the resort now boosts three courses and this week’s RBC Heritage is played over the Harbour Town Golf Links. Opened for play in 1969 and designed by Pete Dye in consultation with Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town Golf Links is recognised as one of America's top courses and is repeatedly selected by the players on the PGA Tour as one of their favorite courses.

The course is a shot makers dream and those who can move the ball and have the imagination and finesse, rather than brute force will be rewarded on this track. The course measures 6,973 yards not the longest by today’s standards but when the wind blows off the Calibogue sound, this course will put the professionals who play here this week to a stern test.

My tips to Win:

Not only is Webb Simpson 12/1 – with BetFred – the defending champion this week he is coming back to an event where he has also had a runner-up finish and four other Top 15, one of which was a Top 5. Webb comes into this week after a solid twelfth-place finish at The Masters and eight Top 20 finishes from his twelve starts so far on the wraparound season, which includes four Top 10s.

I am going to stick with Patrick Cantlay 16/1 – with UniBet – this week even after his woeful Masters finish, which I have to say did shock me as he has been playing some wonderful golf so far this year. I am sure it was also a massive blow to Patrick himself and he will want to prove to himself this week that it was just a one off and I expect him to be right in the thick of it come Sunday afternoon – if he hasn’t already separated himself from the pack by then.

It has been an interesting year for Matt Fitzpatrick 30/1 – with BetFair – on the PGA Tour with six Top 20 finishes from his eleven starts, but in that he has three Top 10 finishes including his fifth place finish at a very tough Riviera Country Club. Matt has teed it up here six times now and has a mixed bag with three Top 25 finishes two of which were inside the Top 15, but I feel this could be the year he really challenges at Harbour Town.

Each-way tips:

After getting his putter shaft fixed relieving some frustration during Saturdays third round at The Masters Si Woo Kim 45/1 – with UniBet – went on to fire a final round 72 to finish inside the Top 12 to automatically qualify for next years event. Si Woo has a runner-up and a Top 15 finish here, he also has two missed cuts from his four starts, so its a matter of what Kim turns up this week, but having already won on this wraparound season and notched up a couple of Top 10s I think he will be challenging again come Sunday.

It will be interesting to see how Robert MacIntyre 80/1 – UniBet – reacts this week after he confirmed his participation in next years Masters by making the Top 12 at the weekend. The reason I am picking Bobby this week is because I think he will feel right at home on the Harbour Town Links and its shot shaping layout could certainly work to his advantage and with a growing confidence in his ability to compete on the PGA Tour don’t be surprised if he is in one of the final pairings come Sunday.

Outside tip:

I think these are great odds for past champion Branden Grace 90/1 – with UniBet – who comes into this week after notching up his second win on the PGA Tour at the Puerto Rico Open a couple of months ago. It has certainly been a struggle on the wraparound season for the South African with six missed cuts from his fifteen starts, but coming back to where he has won before and having won a few months ago will add to his growing confidence.

Longer odds:

Try JT Poston 150/1 – with UniBet

As always good luck
