This week sees the PGA Tour hit the Midwest in Western Illinois and the return of the John Deere Classic, which for the last twelve years has been played at the TPC Deere Run Championship course.

The rolling terrain and wooded ravines were the perfect arena for ex PGA touring professional, DA Weibring to design this beautiful track and with the wooded areas of this former Arabian horse farm sitting next to the Rock River, it’s easy to see why Golf Digest ranked this course at No 42 in the US 100 greatest public golf courses.

The Championship tees measure a tough 7,256-yard and with a par 71 it will test every club and shot making skill of those who compete here this week. The TPC Deere Run is just two hours from Chicago and is located in the Quad Cities region of Western Illinois.

With a lot of bookies now moving to 1/5 of the odds for places, we will try to only show bookies who still offer 1/4 of the odds and bring you the best golf betting tips available for players price and place.

My tips to Win:

Coming into this week on the back of four Top 20s from his last five starts it’s no wonder that the bookies make Daniel Berger 11/1 – with VBet – their favourite especially with this weeks field not being so strong with the Open Championship just around the corner. Daniel has only played in this event twice and made the Top 5 the first time he teed it firing a 63 along the way. TPC Deere run is a low scoring course and a third round 72 after opening with a pair of 66s see him drift out of contention the last time the event was played, but I expect him to be in one of the final pairings come Sunday afternoon.

It seems strange that since starting full time on the PGA Tour back in 2013 Russell Henley 20/1 – with Oddschecker – has only played in this event twice, the first time just finishing outside the Top 25 and the last time the event was played back in 2019 taking the runner-up spot firing a final round 61! It’s been an inconsistent year for Russell with seven Top 25 finishes but also five missed cuts. Having said that he comes into this week on the back of two Top 20 finishes and with this field I am sure he will fancy his chances of going one better than the last time he teed it up here.

Although he missed the cut at the Travelers Championship I am sure Keven Streelman 25/1 – with VBet – will be looking forward to this week. Before that missed cut he was on a run of four Top 20 finishes including his eighth-place finish at the PGA Championship and a Top 15 at the US Open. Kevin seems to have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the TPC Deere Run course, he either makes the Top 10 and is in contention or his out of it completely or misses the cut. With this field I am expect him to be in contention.

Each-way tips:

It must have been an agonising wait on Sunday for Alex Noren 30/1 – with SportNation – to see if he made the play-off or even win the Rocket Mortgage Classic, only for the last groups to completely take him out of the equation. One thing is for sure with 6 Top 25 finishes from his last eight starts, Alex’s confidence is growing in this his first full season on the PGA Tour and it’s not going to be long before he bags his first title and with this field at these odds and in his current vain of form, it certainly could be this week.

I took Maverick McNealy 45/1 – with BetFred – off my list of potential outside winners for last weeks Rocket Mortgage Classic, as he had started to get back to playing some good golf after his Top 5 finish at the RBC Classic and then he proceeded to miss three cuts, but a Top 20 at the Charles Schwab Challenge seemed to settle him down. Maverick had a final round 67 on Sunday and will come into this week in buoyant mood and I think these are good odds for someone who is starting to play well again.

Outside tip:

I can understand why Dylan Frittelli 90/1 – with BetFred – is this far down the betting odds especially after missing fourteen cuts from his twenty-three starts on this seasons wraparound tour and only has four Top 25 finishes. But he is the defending champion this week and as I always say defending champions like to put up a good defence of their title and maybe arriving here to the place of his only PGA Tour victory, may give him the positive vibes he needs to turn his season round.

Longer odds:

Try Sam Ryder 150/1 – with SportingIndex

As always good luck
