It seems the AT&T Byron Nelson is treating us to a new course every year and this year it is the turn of TPC Craig Ranch in Dallas Texas designed by 1973 Open Champion Tom Weiskopf and to be honest he probably wouldn’t put it among his best designs and that is more down to the topography and the remit he was probably given.

The course is relatively flat and is routed round Rowlett Creek, which meanders through this long, narrow plot of land. The course is all about distance with seven of the par fours weighing in at over 450 yards, with the toughest probably being the 493 yard, 12th. The bunkers don’t really come into play off the tee, but your approach shot needs to carry the river which protects the front of the green while also avoiding the bunker running the entire right side of the putting surface.

The courses signature hole is probably the drivable par 4, 14th hole weighing in at 330 yards, the tee shot is slightly downhill with water on the left and a half dozen bunkers around the green. This is followed by the courses best par 3 measuring 216 yards with a pond on your left and sand on your right and of course if you finish in the sand on the right, you are faced with a bunker shot back towards that water on the left!

My tips to Win:

The first thing you are going to notice about all my picks this week is that they are all long hitters from the tee and with seven of the par fours weighing in at over 450 yards being able to hit shorter irons into these greens is going to be a bonus. So with that in mind first up is the longest of them all Bryson DeChambeau 9/1 – with WilliamHill – who also has the short game to back up that awesome power.

Next up is Jon Rahm 8/1 – with WilliamHill – who can also move the ball out there from the tee and again has a great short game. Jon is just getting used to being a father and so there was no surprise that he missed the cut at the weekends Wells Fargo Championship, but he did improve in the second round and he will want to get back on the horse in time for next weeks PGA Championship.

It has been a couple of weeks now since Will Zalatoris 28/1 – with WilliamHill – Masters challenge and while he missed the cut at the weekend, I do feel we will start to see the real Zalatoris back in action this week. It takes time to get used to all the media attention after a week like that and learn to compete at the same time, that is why you don’t see many players go back-to-back wins, but Will’s length like my other picks this week will be an asset.

Each-way tips:

My next two picks come in at great odds and I can tell why the bookies feel they wont have it in them to compete this week, but with Keith Mitchell 80/1 – with UniBet – at these odds coming in on the back of a very good third place at the Wells Fargo Championship its hard not to tip him. Lets remember the weekends performance was no fluke with Keith having three Top 25 finishes in his last four starts and while he may have had a partner at the Zurich Classic for his Top 5 finish there, two of those rounds are foursomes golf which is the toughest test of anyones golf game.

The other is Luke List 80/1 – with UniBet – who had a sixth place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship playing some solid golf and again like my other picks has plenty of distance off the tee. The weekend wasn’t a fluke for Luke he does have another Top 10 and a couple of Top 25 this year and he seems to enjoy the challenge of the tougher courses.

Outside tip:

When it comes to distance then Cameron Champ 100/1 – with SportNation – has it in abundance. Cameron has taken a bit of a rest since the Zurich Classic where he teamed up with Tony Finau, but carding 11.4 more birdies than the field average over his last 10 rounds at these odds, I just had to tip him this week.

Longer odds:

Try John Catlin 150/1 – with UniBet

As always good luck
