Designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant and first opened for play on February 22, 1919, Pebble Beach is the venue of this week’s AT&T and home to some of the greatest US Open Championships ever played.

This is the only course that Jack Neville ever designed and he had one aim, to design as many holes as possible along the rocky Monterey coast line which he felt would be best achieved by using a 'figure 8' design. The course hugs the rugged coastline providing stunning views, cliff-side fairways and sloping greens.

Arnold Palmer is a share-holder and member of the Pebble Beach Company and he has been commissioned several times to make changes to the course which included lengthening the course to more than 7,000 yards, adding trees, new bunkers and moving some of the fairways closer to the sea.

My tips to Win:

I am sure Dustin Johnson 4/1 with BetFred will shake off his long-haul flight after winning in Saudi Arabia and will be looking forward to teeing it up here this week. Like the Desert Classic there will be no amateurs playing in this event this year which gives the players a chance to concentrate on their own games and with two wins and two runner-up finishes in this event Dustin will be looking at back-to-back winning weeks to extend his lead at the top of the world rankings.

An amazing final round 61 at The American Express was Patrick Cantlay 10/1 with BetFair last competitive round of golf to just miss out on taking the title after coming back from just making the cut and in that current vain of form Patrick will be fancying his chances here this week. Cantley has two Top 15 finishes here from his four starts, but in his current form I expect him to be in the thick of it the weekend.

On his travels back to Europe over the last two weeks Paul Casey 20/1 with 10Bet has notched up a win at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and followed that up with a Top 10 at the Saudi International last week and that follows on from his Top 10 at The American Express, all pointing to a confident player that will be turning up this week. Paul has only just started to play in this event regularly after first teeing it up in back in 2001 and has had a Top 10 and a runner-up finish here in the last three years.

Each-way tips:

With two Top 12 finishes and three missed cuts in his last five starts to be honest I am not sure what Jason Day 33/1 with WilliamHill will be turning up this week. One thing that is for certain is that Jason loves teeing it up at Pepple Beach, he has not been outside the Top 5 since 2017 and that includes a runner-up finish and he also has several other Top 10 finishes. Day will be looking at this event and his record here thinking it could kick start his year and that is why I have gone for him this week.

Five wins and two runner-up finishes in this event means you can never rule out Phil Mickelson 60/1 with UniBet at Pebble Beach especially as he shot a final round 74 last year and still came third. Phil has not really competed so far this year on the wraparound season his best being a couple of finishes in the Top 55, but at these odds on this course he is worth an each-way punt.

Outside tip:

My longer odds tip at the Sony Hawaii Open was Peter Malnati 85/1 with VBet at 175/1 who slipped out of the Top 5 in the final round after shooting a 69, but he did open up that tournament with a 62, he has also had a Top 10 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open and has a couple of other Top 5 finishes this season including a runner-up finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Peter had his best finish at Pebble Beach last year taking eleventh-place and in his current form I think he will fancy his chances of challenging this week.

Longer odds:

Try Chez Reavie 150/1 with UniBet

As always good luck
