| The European tour have added a new tournament to the schedule which will be held over the Fire Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates a week before the World Tour Championship, which is played over the Earth Course.
The Fire course opened for play in January 2010, designed by Greg Norman in more of an open links style course and uses different grasses to the Earth course, with some subtle elevations changes and undulations that work with the natural desert landscape. The native grasses display a golden glint in the sunlight and the large terracotta bunkers punctuate the rolling desert terrain.
The course is framed by a wide variety of flora, which have been carefully selected to reflect the overall theme and to enhance the natural setting, undulating topography and stunning natural features.
The design of each tee has a unique perspective, increasing both interest and challenge, offering a variety of lengths for each hole, with lots of elevation changes throughout the course. Placement from the tee is key to playing here as each approach shot to the green is about strategy, going directly at the flag may not always be the best option to scoring well.

My tips to Win:
Having won three times on the European Tour last year I am sure Bernd Wiesberger 14/1 – with UniBet – will be determined to make sure he wins at least once this year. Bernd has only realistically challenged once this year at the UK Championship and he did put in a good defence of his Italian Open title, but a Top 5 on the PGA Tour two weeks ago should do wonders for his confidence coming into this week.
It’s been six years since Martin Kaymer 16/1 – with SportingBet – last won and that was his US Open victory and listening to several interviews that Martin has given since the restart he seems to have found a new prospective on life which has seen him notch up four Top 10 finishes from seven starts three of which have been Top 5 places. After a few weeks rest I am sure Kaymer will be looking forward to the next couple of weeks in Dubai.
It seemed at one point over the summer that Andy Sullivan 25/1 – WilliamHill – couldn’t hit a bad shot and had the ball on a piece of string. Since the restart Andy has won and had two other Top 5 finishes his latest coming at the BMW PGA Championship where he put in a final round 65 when trying to challenge the lead and he will be another player that arrives in buoyant mood this week.
Each-way tips:
As I have stated before it took Sami Välimäki 33/1 – with UniBet – a while to settle down to the new playing conditions which really couldn’t have come at a worse time for him after winning his first European Tour event at the Oman Open. But a runner-up finish in the Wales Open and two other Top 6 finishes show he has now adapted and I expect to see him in the thick of it come Sunday.
I have tipped Marcus Armitage 40/1 – with BetFair – several times this season and a sixth place finish at the weekends Alfred Dunhill Championship should see him teeing it up again in confident mood this week. Marcus has only been outside the Top 25 once in his last seven starts, which includes three Top 10 finishes and I think these are good odds for an each-way punt.
Outside tip:
I was quite surprised to see Sean Crocker 70/1 – with OddsChecker – this far down the betting odds especially after his runner-up finish at the Alfred Dunhill Championship – and I can’t see him staying at these odds for too long. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster season for the American but there have been two other Top 10 finishes since the restart and coming into this week on a high I think these are great odds.
Longer odds:
Try Romain Wattel 200/1 – with WilliamHill
As always good luck
