After last week’s excitement and newly scheduled Players Championship its back to the Florida swing of the PGA Tour, where the players tee it up at the Copperhead course on the Innisbrook Resort at Palm Harbor, Florida.

It’s always a good indicator of how good a course is when the players that compete on the tour say great things about the track. Paul Azinger, 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain said, “Copperhead is the best course we play on Tour.” Two times US Open Champion Curtis Strange stated, “If I could only play one course the rest of my life, it would be Copperhead. It has that much character.”

Designed by Larry & Roger Packard in 1974 its 7.300 yards is characterised by its rolling terrain and tree lined fairways, The course makes the most of its natural lakes and ponds which are home to an abundant of wildlife including fox squirrels, bald eagles, alligators, blue herons, and many other types of water fowl.

My tips to Win:

It’s hard to look past world number one Dustin Johnson 28/5 – MarathonBet – especially having only been outside the Top 10 once in his five starts this year on the PGA Tour, which include a win at the WGC Mexico Championship and he also has a win from his two starts on the European Tour.

After a couple of indifferent finishes Webb Simpson 20/1 – with SportingBet – seemed to be back on track defending his Players Championship title at the weekend, with a Top 15 finish firing a final round 68. Webb has a runner-up finish here and a couple of other Top 10s and only being outside the Top 20 twice in his seven starts on the wraparound tour he will be looking to be in the thick of it come Sunday.

This week’s defending champion is Paul Casey 25/1 – with Ladbrokes – who missed the cut at The Players Championship last weekend. It’s the second blip of the season for Paul on the PGA Tours wraparound season where he has been inside the Top 25 for seven of his nine starts, which include a runner-up and third place at the WGC Mexico Championship.

Each-way Tips:

It was great to see Rory win at the weekend, but it was also good to see Jim Furyk 33/1 – with SportingBet – competing again and coming so close at The Players Championship. I am sure Jim will take a lot of confidence from that performance into this week and at an event that he has not only won but had a runner-up finish and has a couple of other Top 10s.

Adam Hadwin 66/1 – with SportingBet – won this event two years ago and put up a solid defence last year finishing inside the Top 15. It has been a mixed bag this wraparound season for Adam with a runner-up finish and two other Top 10s, but he also has two missed cuts including at The Players Championship last week. I feel being back here will give the Canadian the positive vibe he needs right now and help get his season back on track this week.

Outside Tip:

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster first season on the PGA Tour for Sungjae Im 80/1 – with 888Sport – with five missed cuts including last week at The Players Championship but he also has three Top 10s two of which were Top 5 finishes. I was surprised that he missed the cut at The Players after a third place finish the week before, but I think these are good odds for someone who can quickly turn his game around to be in the thick of it again the following week.

Longer odds:

Try Sung Kang 150/1 – with SportingBet

As always good luck
