The PGA Tour now moves back to the mainland and tees up at the Arnold Palmer Course at La Quinta resort PGA West California. Set at the foot of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains it offers breathtaking views. It incorporates five lakes and a canal that comes into play on holes 14 through to 17. Look out for the five finishing holes which are carved along the rugged mountain range.

The Palmer course measures 6,930 yards and has hosted the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic where David Duval shot a course record 59 in his final round to win the tournament by one shot, firing an eagle on the final hole.

My tips to Win:

With fifteen Top 25 from his eighteen starts, which includes two wins, three runners-up and four Top 5s Justin Rose 10/1 – UniBet – has to be the favourite to win this week and get his year off to a flying start.

This week’s defending champion is Jon Rahm 15/2 – SkyBet – who won on the fourth hole of a play-off and with a Top 10 at the Tournament of Champions two weeks ago, Jon should come into this week in confident mood.

After tipping Charles Howell lll 22/1 – BetFred – last week I am going to stick with him after his Top 10 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii. This is another tournament that Charles has a good record in with runner-up and he has not been outside the Top 20 in the last three years and should come into this week in confident mood.

Each-way tip:

Some strange prices on my each-way tips this week you can get as little as 66/1 on Bud Cauley 100/1 – with Ladbrokes – but as you can see the best price you can get is 100/1. Bud is another player that has a good record in this event over the last three years and has not been outside the Top 15, with a third-place finish two years ago.

With two wins and a runner-up finish Bill Haas 100/1 – with Ladbrokes – has a great record in this event, he also has three other Top 10s, but last year was a tough one for the North Carolinian with fourteen missed cuts. This year has started better for Bill with a couple of Top 15 on the wraparound tour, but another missed cut in his last event may see a tentative Haas but being back here at these odds I feel he could do well this week.

Outside Tip:

I was quite surprised to see Russell Knox 100/1 – with BetFair – this far down the betting odds and he started this year with a Top 50 at the Sony Open In Hawaii last week, but I believe he was just knocking the rust off his tournament golf game. Russell has played in this event a couple of time but has not really challenged, but I think this could be a good season for the Scot.

Longer odds:

Try Carlos Ortiz 250/1 – 10Bet

As always good luck
