This week sees the tour move to the mainland island of Hawaii, Oahu and tees up at the Waialae Country Club. The course nestles between the Koolau mountain range on the north and Pacific Ocean on the south.

Opened in 1927 and designed by Seth Raynor, the Waialae Country Club has hosted major golfing events since 1965 and has been the venue for the annual Hawaiian PGA tournament.

Tailored greens, lush fairways, beautiful mountain ranges, the blue ocean, these are some of the fantastic views the course has to offer the visiting golfer. The pros on the other hand will be playing the course in a different way as the front and back nines are reversed for Tournament play in order to capitalise on the sun setting in the west.

My tips to Win:

A final round 65 see Justin Thomas 7/1 – with RoyalPanda – move into the Top 3 at the Tournament of Champions at the weekend which should see Justin in confident mood teeing it up here this week. Thomas won this event two years ago and will be looking to get an early win under his belt.

Normally firing a final round -5 under score when you’re leading a tournament would see you take the title and Gary Woodland 14/1 – with SportingBet – shouldn’t have too many regrets about his performance on Sunday, when some shoots an -11 under par 62 you just have to hold your hands up. Gary has a good record in this event with four Top 15 finishes from his last four starts, three of those were Top 10s including a third-place finish and in his current form he should do well here this week.

Another player who had a good Tournament of Champions finishing in the Top 5 was Marc Leishman 20/1 – with SportPesa – although he may be a little disappointed with his final round 71 on a day of some very low scoring. Marc has five Top 20s from his nine starts here with two Top 10s and one of those being a Top 5 finish and with a win already from his three starts on the wraparound tour, he is certainly in great form.

Each-way tips:

Charles Howell lll 40/1 – with RoyalPanda – has come close to winning this event twice with two runners-up finishes, he also has an incredible five other Top 5 finishes and two other Top 10s from his seventeen starts. To say Charles likes this course would be a bit of an understatement, in his first start here he made the Top 5 shooting a second round 62.

This week’s defending champion is Patton Kizzire 50/1 – with Ladbrokes – who comes into this event on the back of a Top 10 finish at the Tournament of Champions. I am sure Patton is looking forward to defending his title this week having had a solid start to the wraparound season.

Outside tip:

After his battle with Lyme disease it’s good to see Jimmy Walker 100/1 – with SportingBet – back on the fairways. Jimmy won this event back-to-back in 2014-15 so he obviously enjoys teeing it up here and with a solid start to the wraparound season I think these are good odds for the lad from Oklahoma City.

Longer odds:

Try Fabian Gomez 250/1 – with UniBet

As always good luck
