This is the forth year that the newly re-constructed Backtee Course at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort – which opened in April 2013 following extensive renovations – will host the Made In Denmark tournament.

Designed by Philip Spogárd and constructed by David Nelson, with Per Gundtoft as an advisory consultant, the course is situated in a beautiful part of the country and is located 20 kilometres to the west of Alborg, Europe’s cleanest city.

The course offers some stunning views, but with its wide fairways, it’s a course that is very easy on the eye. The professionals shouldn’t be fooled by its wide open spaces, if you want to score well round this track you need to be in the right part of the fairways to attack the flags.

My tips to Win:

Hopefully the flight back from New York won’t affect Matt Wallace 9/1 – with SportingBet – in his title defence of this event and I must admit when Matt won this event last year I really did think it would push him into the Ryder Cup Team. Wallace put into play his new on course philosophy at the PGA Championship and apart from a few outbursts it seemed to work for him and I am sure he will be wanting to take his current form forward into this week.

Jordan Smith 18/1 – with SportingBet – has only been outside the Top 15 three times from his nine starts this year, with three of those being inside the Top 10. Jordan won his first event on the European Tour two years ago and played in this event for the first-time last year and although this year’s tournament is at a different venue he did make the Top 20.

I am sure Lucas Bjerregaard 18/1 – with SkyBet – will want to put on a good display in front of his home support, especially after his second Top 25 finish in a major championship this year. Lucas is starting to find his feet on the PGA Tour with a Top 5 finish at the WGC Match-play and twelfth place finish at the Honda Classic and with a win in each of the last two years on the European Tour he will want to keep that streak going.

Each-way tips:

So far it has not been the year Adrian Otaegui 60/1 – with BetFair – was hoping for after winning an event in each of the last two years, with his best finish being a runner-up at the Perth World Super 6s. Adrian comes into this week on the back of two missed cuts, hence the odds he is being touted at this week, but he has played will over the Backtee course with a Top 5 three years ago – he also had a Top 10 at last year’s event although at a different venue – and I am hoping those positive vibes of being back here will kick start his year.

With a win and a runner-up in this event over this course I was surprised to see David Horsey 80/1 – with SportingBet – this far down the betting odds. David did miss two cuts earlier in the year but apart from that blip he has played some steady golf and his last three starts has seen a progression up the leaderboard and I am sure he will be looking forward to being back here this week.

Outside tip:

Another player I was surprised to see this far down the betting odds was Bradley Dredge 100/1 – with MarathonBet – who has two runner-up finishes and a sixth place in this event on this track and while he may have missed his last two cuts he does have three Top 25s from his seven starts so far this year.

Longer odds:

Try Marc Warren 225/1 – with SportingBet

As always good luck
