Golfclub München Eichenried held its first BMW International Open just after the opening in 1989, which was won by David Feherty. This will be the 25rd time that the course has held this prestigious tournament.

Kurt Roßknecht who was commissioned to design 27 holes with three 9-hole loops designed the course - the parkland track is long and flat. Features include an abundant stock of a variety of trees with water hazards and streams, the numerous ponds feature some elegant dry stone-wall work. There are also two half-island greens and nearly 90 bunkers throughout the course for the players to contend with.

The Golfclub München Eichenried course is always maintained to an immaculate condition, and is continually updated to keep pace with new technology, new strategically placed bunkers, additional trees planted each year, water hazards being modified and tees extended.

My tips to Win:

This week’s defending champion is Matt Wallace 12/1 – with UniBet – who should come into this week in confident mood after another great finish in a major championship, finishing twelfth to go along with his third-place finish at the PGA championship. This is a different course to where Matt won this tournament last year and he will be flying back from the west coast of America, but I am sure he will want to put up a good defence of his title.

Having won this event on this track Martin Kaymer 16/1 – with SportingBet – should be looking forward to this week. Like some of the other players I have tipped this week Martin will be flying back from the west coast of America after competing in the US Open. Kaymer started well in that event but a second round 75 see him slide down the leaderboard and he never really recovered, but a third place at The Memorial tournament a couple of weeks ago shows he is coming back into form.

I have been impressed this year with Erik Van Rooyen 33/1 – with UniBet – who has two runners-up in his first full season on the European Tour after moving up from the Challenge Tour and he certainly hasn’t hung around when it comes to competing in the bigger tournaments having a Top 10 at the PGA Championship last month and played some solid golf at last weeks US Open. I don’t think it will be long before Erik wins his first European Tour event and I feel he will be in the thick of it come Sunday.

Each-way tips:

Another past champion of this event is Pablo Larrazabal 40/1 – with Ladbrokes – who has won this tournament twice over this course. Pablo comes into this week on the back of two Top 10s from his last three starts on the European Tour and I am sure being back here is only going to add to his confidence levels this week.

This is Robert Macintyre 55/1 – with UniBet – first year on the European Tour after making the Top 15 on last season’s Challenge Tour to gain his card and with back-to-back runner-up finishes in two of his last three starts I think these are great odds for the young Scot.

Outside tip:

This is Matthias Schwab 80/1 – with BetFred – second season on the European Tour and he has been playing some solid golf with three Top 10 finishes over the wraparound season. Matthias had a stunning amateur career and apart from being one to watch over the coming years I feel he will challenge several times this year and I think these are great odds for the Austrian

Longer odds:

Try Max Schmitt 350/1 – with 888Sport

As always good luck
