The venue for this year’s Ryder Cup matches will be the Albatross course at Le Golf National, which normally plays host to the Open de France that surrounds the Chateau of Versailles, once home of King Louis XIV and one of three courses that make up Le Golf National.

In 1985, the French Golf Federation's Executive Committee decided they wanted to give the Open de France a permanent home and came up with a plan to build the Le National Club, it took three years to construct and was open for play in 1990. Hubert Chesneau and Robert Von Hagge designed the 6,854-yard Albatross course and although built on flat farmland it manages to combine a links feel with American style target golf. The course has wide undulating fairways, with links style bunkering, water hazards and with artificially created sand dunes it offers a tough test of golf.

My tips to Win:

On paper the USA team looks very strong, but I feel with home advantage on a course that the European team play regularly and have two winners of the Open de France, then add in to the mix that they are trying to regain the Ryder Cup, I feel may just give the European Team 5/4 – with SportingBet – the advantage this week.

Team Top Points scorers

The obvious player in the European Cup team would be Ian Poulter 11/1 – with SportingBet – and while his game is coming back into form my picks for this week are going to be Justin Rose 11/2 – with BetStars and Alex Noren 16/1 – with Bet365.

While he may not have been in scintillating form of late Masters champion Patrick Reed 9/1 – with Bet365 – has proved himself when it comes to Ryder Cup match play and producing when his blood is pumping. My other pick is Tony Finau 25/1 – with Coral – Tony has been playing great golf lately and while he maybe a Ryder Cup rookie I feel he has the mentality to really thrive in the pressure cooker atmosphere.

As always good luck

There are lots of other one-off bets you can look at, but please remember at the end of the day there is only one winner and that is the bookies and never a punter. Make sure you’re betting for fun as you will never make a living from gambling.
