The European Tour is back this week and pitches up at the Hills Golf Club just south of Gothenburg in Sweden for the Nordea Masters. Designed by Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest, the Hills Golf Club opened for play in 2005 and offers some stunning views and natural amphitheatres.
Carved out of woodland, hills and valleys with generous fairways, the course has well placed bunkers and tough green complexes, strategy will be key at this week’s event from both the tee and second shots into the greens.
The course weighs in at a staggering 7,500 yards and if you think how cold Sweden can get, the ball isn’t going to fly as far as in the heat of Missouri, if you want to compare length to last week’s PGA Championship.
The course offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and the natural amphitheatres on the 1st and 10th tees and 9th and 18th greens, with both holes being played either side of a lake.
The course is a mix of Europe, Surrey and Florida and look out for the back-to-back par threes at the 5th and 6th holes, walking off those two without playing no more than six shots will see players increase their lead on their competitors.
