The European Tour moves to the Albatross golf resort in the Czech Republic for this week's Czech Masters, the course is situated in the Vysoky Ujezd on the outskirts of Prague and not far from the international airport Ruzyne.

The course was designed by Keith Preston and opened for play in 2010 and has hosted the Prague Golf Masters, a Ladies European Tour event, where the course won much praise for its condition. One of the big surprises is how gentle the first few opening holes are for a European Tour venue.

For example, the 3rd is a par 3 without any hazards and has only a sloping green for defence. Indeed, there are no really fierce tests here until you get to the water-strewn final three holes. The Albatross Golf Resort was rated the best course in the Czech Republic by Golf Digest.

My tips to Win:

With the Ryder Cup picks just on the horizon, who can forget Thomas Pieters 7/1 – with UniBet – pulling out all the stops to make the team for the last cup matches at Hazeltine National. Thomas hasn’t made the automatic selections again and will be looking for a captains pick, last time he needed that he had a runner-up finish here, he had also won this event the year before and will be the man to beat this week.

After his runner-up finish at the Scottish Open Eddie Pepperell 18/1 – with Ladbrokes – went on to fire a final round 67 at The Open Championship and was in contention for a long time before finally finishing in sixth place. Eddie has had two Top 5 finishes over the Albatross course in its four-year history so it obviously suits his eye and I expect him to be challenging again this week.

Matt Wallace 25/1 – with UniBet – was chatting on Sky Sports golf Sunday about changing his schedule to fit this tournament in, mainly with the goal of trying to get into the Ryder Cup conversation, even if he doesn’t make the automatic places. Matt has two wins on the European Tour this year and with that determination to make the team I can see him pushing hard this week.

Each-way tips:

After a Top 10 finish at the Nordea Masters at weekend Lee Slattery 45/1 – with Bet365 – should be in buoyant mood when he tees it up here. It has been a difficult few weeks for Lee as he has had a run of three missed cuts before that Top 10 finish. Slattery was runner-up here last year, which was his best finish to date of his four starts at the Albatross Golf Resort.

This week’s defending champion is Haydn Porteous 50/1 – with RoyalPanda – who played some great golf to win last year’s event. It has been a bit of a rollercoaster year for the South African with nine missed cuts from his nineteen starts so far this year, but a sixth-place finish at the Nordea Masters should see him teeing it up in confident mood this week.

Outside tips:

My outside tip this week is Italian Nino Bertasio 90/1 – with Bet365 – and after Francesco Molinari’s win at the Open Championship I feel that we will start to see other Italian players taking a lot of positives from his performance. Nino finished in the Top 15 here last year and with a Top 20 finish at the weekend in the Nordea Master, Nino’s game seems to be in great shape coming into this week.

Longer odds:

Try SSP Chowrasia 250/1 – with BetFred

As always good luck
