The PGA Tour now moves back to the mainland and tees up at the Arnold Palmer Course at La Quinta resort PGA West California. Set at the foot of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains it offers breathtaking views. It incorporates five lakes and a canal that comes into play on holes 14 through to 17. Look out for the five finishing holes which are carved along the rugged mountain range.

The Palmer course measures 6,930 yards and has hosted the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic where David Duval shot a course record 59 in his final round to win the tournament by one shot, firing an eagle on the final hole.

My tips to win:

I am going to stick with Brian Harman 16/1 – with Ladbrokes – again this week after another great showing at the Sony Open and his second Top 5 in two weeks and his forth in five starts on the wraparound tour where he has not been outside the Top 10. Brian had a Top 5 finish in this event last year and will be itching to get one of these great finishes over the line and turn it into a victory.

A player that finished strongly at last weeks Sony Open was Webb Simpson 25/1 – with Ladbrokes – who’s final rounds of 63 and 65 see him storm up the leaderboard and into the Top 5. Webb does have a couple of Top 10 finishes in this event so he knows how to score around here and he will be looking to break this winless drought that he’s been going through.

Another player I am going to stick with this week is Jason Dufner 33/1 – BetFred – who is a past champion here and defended his title with a Top 25 last year. As I stated last week Jason’s golf game is in great shape his demons are with the flatstick and if he can get that going – there are signs shooting 65 and 66 last week – he will be challenging again.

My each-way tips:

This will be Chesson Hadley 50/1– UniBet – first competitive outing this year after starting the wraparound season in scintillating form with three Top 5 finishes from his first three starts. Chesson has missed the cut in this event every time he has teed it up here. But after coming back on the main tour after winning the Tour last year he is a changed man and with some diligent work over the winter I am sure he will be raring to go this week and put his record here to bed.

I must admit I was very surprised to see Bill Haas 66/1 – SportingBet – this far down the betting odds. Not only has Bill won this event twice and had a runners-up he also has two other Top 10s. Haas may not be in the greatest of forms right now, but as we have seen on several occasions some players snap out of that when they arrive at a course that not only suits their eye but where they have had positive results and PGA West is all of those things for Bill Haas.

My outside tips:

Ryan Palmer 125/1 – with Bet365 – seems to have a love/hate relationship going with PGA West, he has a runner-up and three other Top 10s but has as many missed cuts. I did tip Ryan last week as I feel he could be getting back to playing his best golf, but his 64 and 69 at the Sony Open last week were interspersed with two rounds of 71 and he is just searching for some consistency at the moment.

As always good luck
