Set amongst the Bukit Kiara hillside some 5 miles from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the TPC Kuala Kumper – formally known as the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club – was originally designed by Robin Nelson in 1991. Since then the course has gone through a recent redesign which was undertaken by Parslow and Associates who extensively reconstructed the layout over a period of eighteen months.

The new West Course reopened for play in October 2008 with the East course opening two years later in 2010. It’s a golf course that rewards the shot-maker and gives fantastic views of the hole you are playing and the surrounding scenery it sits in. The undulating fairways offer plenty of shot options into the greens and where water comes into play on thirteen of the eighteen holes, with an additional lake on the ninth hole.

My tips to Win:

After being one of the standout performs on the US Ryder Cup team and a well-deserved break, I am sure Justin Thomas 5/1 – with SportingBet – will be itching to get back to playing competitive tournament golf this week. Justin won this event back-to-back in 2015-16 but failed to make it three in a row last year, but I think he will be back in the thick of it again come Sunday.

Another back-to-back winner of this event is Ryan Moore 16/1 – with SportingBet – 2013-14, he also missed out on making it three in a row but did make the Top 10 while trying. Ryan should come into this week in confident but determined mood after just missing out on winning last week’s Safeway Open in a play-off.

Last year’s runner-up in this event was Keegan Bradley 25/1 – with Coral – who I tipped several times last year knowing he was close to getting back to playing his best golf and I feel his win at the BMW Championship will be the start of a very good season for the lad from Woodstock.

Each-way tip:

A Top 10 at last week’s Safeway Open should see Danny Lee 45/1 – with Bet365 – arrive at the TPC Kuala Lumpur course in buoyant mood and looking forward to this new wraparound season. Danny didn’t have the greatest of years missing the cut in nearly half of the tournaments he teed it up in, but with the start of this new season and his Top 10 finish here last year he will want to keep that momentum going.

With Top 10 finishes in his last two starts in this event Anirban Lahiri 66/1 – with Bet365 – will be looking to have a positive result here this week. Anirban missed the cut at last week’s Safeway Open, but I think being back in Malaysia at TPC Kuala Lumpur may just be the positive boost he needs.

Outside tip:

Kiradech Aphibarnrat 80/1 – with SportingBet – has played on this course once in the CIMB Classic and had a third-place finish, but he has won a European Tour event that is also held over this track and had another third-place finish in that same event, so he does enjoy playing this course. Kiradech had two Top 5 finishes in WGC events this year and I think these are great odds for the lad from Bangkok.

Longer odds:

Try Shubhankar Sharma 250/1 – with SkyBet

As always good luck
